Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul is a handmade fresh choco pie shop tucked inside Gwangjang Market. So many people come looking for Gwangjang Market food — and honestly, both foreigners and Koreans were everywhere when I visited... I've lived in Seoul forever and I'm still such a country girl about Gwangjang Market, haha, I'd never actually been. I never imagined a dessert shop like this would be hiding inside the market, but now I've found a new favorite.

Discovered a healthy dessert inside Gwangjang Market!!! Just 115m from Exit 7 of Jongno 5-ga. Coming out of Exit 7 and walking about 115m, it's easy to find, and the storefront has these cute character decorations, so you won't have any trouble spotting it.
Six-piece set for 24,800 won, picked up with a Naver Reservation
I bought the 6-flavor set at Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul, booked through Naver Reservation. It's ₩24,800 for 6 pieces. They packed all 6 neatly into a box — this would make a great Chuseok gift, too.
🍯 Storage tip — if it'll take 4–5 hours after packing, you'll need a cooler bag (₩600). If it's a gift, the shopping bag is ₩1,000. Buying the set is cheaper than buying pieces individually and lets you try a variety of flavors, so I'd recommend it.
Reading the origin labels: every ingredient is Korean-grown
It comes with a Ssuk's Choco Pie info sheet, and each pie is individually boxed, which looks clean and makes it perfect as a gift. The choco pies were bigger than I expected, too.
I'm someone who checks ingredient origins, so I read through it carefully. And the ingredients are all domestic! 👍
Ssuk's Choco Pie's five promises — started in 2016 as the original mugwort choco pie / no artificial coloring, no preservatives, no emulsifiers, no shortening, no margarine / refrigerated fresh choco pie / healthy ingredients and antibiotic-free eggs / made with Korean wheat by a dad of twins with sensitive skin!
Getting to properly enjoy all six flavors made me glad I went with the set.
When each piece was over ₩4,000, my first thought was 💡 isn't that pricey? But once you see the ingredients and the size, that thought disappears completely.
Geomundo sea-mugwort: fresh cream instead of marshmallow
☘️ Geomundo sea-mugwort is Ssuk's Choco Pie Seoul's signature menu item. Once you get it, you'll understand why it needs to be refrigerated... because it skips 5 undesirable ingredients, it has to stay fresh. Fresh cream instead of marshmallow, too! 👍
You can see how it cuts — smoothly, with no stiffness at all. That's how moist and soft the fresh cream is. It just melts away in your mouth.
There's a generous amount of cream inside, too. One bite and you'll wonder what all those other choco pies you've eaten were. And it's so soft. The flavor has a hint of mugwort along with chocolate, and the cream is smooth — an absolutely perfect combination.
Now I might not be able to eat other choco pies anymore? 🤣 The fresh cream and the not-too-strong mugwort aroma give it a subtle, elegant dessert feel.
Jeju Udo peanut: the crunch of Korean-grown peanuts
Jeju Udo peanut uses domestic peanuts grown facing Jeju's sea winds, and they get nuttier the more you chew. Even the peanuts are Korean — amazing.
There are peanuts pressed right into the top of the choco pie. The nutty flavor builds as you chew, and it's fun to eat.
As you chew through the peanuts, their nutty flavor blends beautifully with the rich taste of the choco pie, elevating everything. The creamy fresh cream and the peanuts go so well together.
Nonsan strawberry: house-cooked purée for anyone who dislikes mugwort
🍓 Nonsan strawberry uses a homemade purée that's refreshing and not too sweet, with a nice moist texture. They even made the strawberry purée from scratch — that level of effort is genuinely touching.
Kids will probably love the Nonsan strawberry. The just-right sweetness even lifts your mood. If you're not a fan of mugwort, I'd recommend this one!
Sea-mugwort injeolmi: the flavor my mother liked best
🌿 My mom loved the sea-mugwort injeolmi (sweet rice cake). It has injeolmi cream and injeolmi rice cake inside, coated with soybean powder on the outside, so you get the full injeolmi flavor. A flavor grown-ups will love!!

Sea-mugwort whole red bean: 100% Korean beans left whole
🌼 Sea-mugwort whole red bean uses 100% domestic red beans that aren't cooked down completely but simmered just enough to keep their texture. I like getting that bit of bite as you eat. The cream is soft too, so with each choco pie, I kept thinking how consistently soft everything is.
