📸 Right in front of Seolleung Station so it's very accessible, and Deokseu Gallery gets you from shooting to retouching in about 15 minutes! They quickly picked up on my facial features, directed me naturally, and finished the retouching cleanly — I was really satisfied.

Where is Deokseu Gallery, and what about parking and hours?

📍 This time I visited Deokseu Gallery, a photo studio near Seolleung Station. It's located in the basement level of the Hana Bank building at 401 Teheran-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. If you're taking public transit, it's about a 30-second walk from exits 8 or 9 of Seolleung Station. 🚶 You practically arrive the moment you step out of the station, so accessibility was really good.

🚗 If you're driving, just enter the address into your navigation and use the building's parking lot. You get up to 3 hours free, which was plenty of time for shooting, selecting, and retouching without rushing. That said, parking is apparently hard to use on Sundays and holidays, so check ahead if you're driving. If you park on the street nearby, be sure to check the parking signage and enforcement too.

⏰ Business hours are 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM, closed every Sunday. On public holidays they close an hour earlier, at 6:30 PM, so keep that in mind before visiting!

Being right in front of Seolleung Station with free parking available made this a photo studio that's convenient whether you arrive by transit or by car — that was the first thing I liked. 😊

Inside Deokseu Gallery: waiting area and shooting room

📸 Walking into Deokseu Gallery, there's a retouching workspace and waiting seats near the entrance. It was nice having a separate space to wait a bit before and after the shoot, and going further in, you find a shooting space that's bigger than you'd expect.

The shooting space had various backgrounds along with all sorts of props ready to go, which made it clear this is a studio that handles not just standard ID or passport photos but also profile shots with more atmosphere. ✨

Further inside there was also a separate powder room where you can fix yourself up before shooting. The powder room in particular was stocked with a range of outfits you could use for the shoot, so even if you hadn't brought multiple changes of clothes, you could still put together the look you wanted. 👔

Overall, with waiting, shooting, and prep all clearly divided into separate spaces, Deokseu Gallery felt like a proper studio dedicated to photography. 😊

Powder room: borrowed suits, hair tools and celebrity autographs

💄 One of the spaces I especially liked at Deokseu Gallery was the powder room! From suits and shirts you could use for shooting to more natural-looking sets, there was a good variety of outfits ready, which looked really handy for anyone who forgot to bring their own shooting outfit. 👔

That day I'd suddenly needed an ID photo, so I'd rushed to take half a day off just to visit. 😂 I still had on the white shirt from work and my hair was a bit messy, so I was worried about how the photo would turn out.

Luckily, the powder room had combs and various hair products well stocked, so I was able to tidy myself up quite a bit before the shoot. It was great that even visiting on short notice, I could get shoot-ready without needing to prepare anything separately. ✨

While fixing my hair I looked around and noticed several celebrity autographs on the wall. Between the variety of outfits and props, the spacious studio, and the autographs, it seemed like a place people visit a lot not just for ID photos but for profile shoots too. 📸

Swapping the white shirt for a borrowed suit

👔 Honestly, that day I needed an ID photo urgently for work and visited without really looking into anything first. So I'd just thoughtlessly worn a white shirt, but before the shoot, the staff mentioned that for passport or driver's license photos, white-toned tops can blend in with the background and are best avoided.

Luckily, they said I could freely change into the clothes prepared in the powder room and shoot in those, so I switched right away. Since I was going to do this properly, I wanted to use it for my company ID badge profile too, so I went with a suit style. 👔 There were plenty of shirt options to pair with the suit too, from a standard white shirt to more natural-toned styles, so it was easy to choose.

I was especially surprised that they had everything in a full range of sizes!

Since I was already fully dressed up, I changed the shirt too and got the actual shoot started! 📸 What I especially liked here was the directing. My face is naturally a bit asymmetrical, and the moment the shoot started, they picked up on it right away.

Rather than just shooting straight-on, they adjusted the angle of my face slightly toward the right, and fine-tuned my jawline and shoulder line bit by bit to find the most natural-looking pose. Seeing them catch these details immediately without me saying anything made me think, 'this is exactly why professionals get it right in one go.' 👍

They carefully shot multiple frames so I'd have a total of 8 photos to compare at the end, and the shoot itself took about 10 minutes. Even in that short time, they were meticulous about expression and posture, so despite visiting in a rush, I ended up with a proper shoot. 😊

How the photo selection and retouching work

✨ After the shoot, they first showed me the 8 photos that best captured my look. I liked being able to compare the images myself and pick out the ones I liked best to choose which photo would get final retouching. 📸

Once I picked the photo, they got right into retouching. Instead of dramatically changing my face, they evened out the skin tone and cleaned up blemishes or anything that might look messy in the photo, which suited an ID photo well. Thanks to that, my actual look stayed the same while the impression came out much tidier and cleaner. ✨

While they retouched, I waited at the seats behind and could somewhat watch them work. Even though they handled every detail, they retouched impressively quickly and cleanly.

📸 With that, the ID photo shoot was complete! At the time of my visit, the cost for an ID photo was ₩30,000, and from the actual shooting to selecting and finishing the retouching took only about 15 minutes. It wrapped up much faster than I expected. 👍

It seemed like a good fit especially for people like me who suddenly need a photo urgently during work. Even including the time to fix my hair and change clothes in the powder room, the whole thing took under 30 minutes, so it felt easy to fit into a lunch break or a half-day off.

📸 What I personally liked most about Deokseu Gallery was how quickly they picked up on each person's unique facial features and matched the shoot to fit.
