On a rainy weekend, I always crave jeon (savory Korean pancake) with a glass of makgeolli. So I headed to Halmae Gireumjip, a bar near Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station 🍶 With retro window seats where you can listen to the rain and a great lineup of set menus, this is a place I'd genuinely recommend as a Yeongdeungpo favorite.

Halmae Gireumjip Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Branch is a 2-minute walk from Exit 4 or 5 of Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station. The retro vibe is strong from the exterior alone.
The retro feel carries through into the interior too, and since it's a fairly new opening, the dishware and tables were all spotless and well kept haha
There's a wall display that really shows their pride and dedication to jeon lol. It said they use canola oil to get that golden crispy fry. Now I'm even more curious how crispy it'll turn out ~ 👀
14 kinds of jeon and set menus on the kiosk
At Halmae Gireumjip, this Yeongdeungpo bar and neighborhood favorite, they sell a whopping 14 kinds of jeon.
Looking at the kiosk, there's the staff set, the grandma set, the boss set, the grandma spring set, the summer set — a really solid lineup. With so many jeon options, this kind of set menu is perfect for indecisive people like me haha
There's even a review event where you get a chewy potato dish worth 9,000 won, so definitely don't skip checking that when you visit!
And that's not all... they're also running a 1+1 opening event on Kooksoondang draft makgeolli or rice makgeolli 💕 They also carry various other kinds of makgeolli, making this a must-visit Yeongdeungpo bar for any day you're craving jeon and makgeolli!!

The basic side dishes are tofu kimchi and pickled onion. Piling well-fermented kimchi onto the plain tofu before the main dishes arrive is absolutely delicious 😋
Staff set, part 1: bacon kimchi jeon
The bacon kimchi jeon from the staff set arrived looking incredibly appetizing.
I've been really into pizza-cut jeon lately, and the staff sliced it up into pizza shape right there lol
Can you see how much bacon is on there.. 👀 It's absolutely loaded with kimchi and bacon!
The salty kimchi and bacon combo makes the makgeolli go down so smoothly — this bacon kimchi jeon was a perfect match for the jeon-and-makgeolli combo! 🍶🥓
Staff set, part 2: mountain-high clam soup
Literally a mountain of clams packed into the pot!
Green onions, cheongyang chili, and clams simmered into a milky, spicy broth was the real hook!
I ladled out plate after plate and the clams just kept coming — I genuinely ate until I was stuffed lol. Pairing the salty bacon kimchi jeon with the chewy, spicy clam soup broth balanced the flavors just right, so I could keep eating everything with more room!
Ube makgeolli and the 1+1 Kooksoondang draft makgeolli
I also tried the ube makgeolli that's trending these days.
Wow, it's genuinely as sweet and delicious as a soft drink lol — we polished it off in about 30 minutes. Both me and my boyfriend went wide-eyed and just kept sipping it down 😝
So we ordered more,, the 1+1 Kooksoondang draft makgeolli. How could we possibly pass up a 1+1 deal ㅠㅠㅠ
When you order the draft makgeolli, they even bring out a kettle so you can pour it out generously and enjoy it even more. Personally, I found the draft makgeolli paired even better with the staff set combo!
Honey tomatoes to finish the night
For a final palate cleanser, I ordered honey tomatoes too ✌️ This really is a Yeongdeungpo favorite, right? Everything on the menu is delicious... it's the kind of magic that makes you keep reordering.
From 14 kinds of jeon to a hearty set menu and makgeolli, Halmae Gireumjip is a Yeongdeungpo bar that delivers it all 🍶 The set menu combo was especially good, and pairing it with the different kinds of makgeolli meant the drinks just kept flowing haha. If you want to enjoy good jeon and makgeolli at a retro window seat, this is a place I'd recommend as a Yeongdeungpo favorite 🤎
