Traditional liquor sampler & jusanggang set for four: Buchigom

In short

Buchigom Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Branch is a Korean bar with an outdoor tent seating area (yajang) three minutes on foot from Exit 4 of Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station in Seoul. Four friends shared the jusanggang set (₩54,000, whole conch stew, minari pancake, and bossam) plus a traditional liquor sampler (₩7,500) and a makgeolli sampler, picking drinks at random without knowing their names for extra fun. The verdict: Buchigom feels less like a bar and more like a proper restaurant.

I'd been curious about Buchigom every time I passed Yeongdeungpo-gu Office, and I finally made it there! It genuinely exceeded expectations, haha. My friends who came with me were all happy too, and I'm 100% going back soon with my own money! The owner and staff were so, so kind the whole time we were eating, which made it even better.

A jeon restaurant with outdoor tent seating — what's the vibe inside?

Being right in front of Exit 4 of Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station made it super easy to get to! Once inside, the staff greeted us really warmly!

The space was pretty spacious, and the lattice-pattern windows with traditional-style frames plus the soft lighting gave it a real Korean-bar atmosphere!

The tables were spacious too, and even with a lot of customers it wasn't too loud, which I liked!

There are group tables too, and the food's delicious, so it seems like a great spot for work dinners, gatherings, dates, or engagement party get-togethers near Yeongdeungpo-gu Office.

Going further inside, there's an outdoor tent seating area (yajang) too! Yajang season is coming soon, right..? They said once the weather cools down they open up the side doors!

Here's the menu at Buchigom Yeongdeungpo-gu Office! There were lots of solid options like minari (water dropwort) pancake, whole conch stew, and the bossam set. The jeon (savory pancake) selection was varied too — green onion shrimp pancake, half-and-half pancake, cheese potato pancake, seafood pancake, pepperoni cheese potato pancake, and more! Perfect for a rainy day...

I really wanted the raw conch salad too, but my pick of the day was the jusanggang set (₩54,000) — whole conch stew, minari pancake, and bossam! I'd already eaten meat until I was stuffed at the first round, but the side dishes were so good I finished everything anyway — not telling anyone that part.

Traditional liquor sampler, ₩7,500 — four of us picking at random

The traditional liquor and makgeolli samplers let you try a little of many kinds. The first thing we ordered was the traditional liquor sampler. Only ₩7,500, super affordable!

Cups of traditional liquor picked at random for the sampler
I was determined not to touch the strongest one no matter what..

Normally the staff explains the name and flavor of each traditional liquor one by one, but since there were four of us, we skipped the explanations and just picked at random, haha. Total fun.. You guys should try it too! Hahahaha I got stuck with the strongest one, ugh.

Next up was the makgeolli sampler! They gave us a nice variety of the tasty kinds, so it was really good, haha.

We ended up ordering the traditional liquor sampler one more time, hahahaha. It paired so well with Buchigom's dishes that we happily kept drinking.

The jusanggang set, ₩54,000 — what's in it, and how does it taste

Vertical shot of the full jusanggang set spread

First out from today's main event, the jusanggang set, was the signature minari pancake! Just from looking at it, you can tell it's fried perfectly crisp.

Next came Buchigom's bossam! It comes with seasoned minari, dried radish strips, baek-kimchi (white kimchi), chili peppers, and garlic. The sauces are salted shrimp, ssamjang, and a special house sauce!

I thought bossam usually comes in small portions, but the amount here was massive..?

The whole conch stew came out too! It was packed generously with conch and clams — check out the size of that whole conch..

All this for ₩54,000..? With the table filled up like that, just looking at it made me want to keep drinking!

The minari pancake stays crisp even cold

I'd especially been looking forward to Buchigom's minari pancake since I'd heard it was good, and sure enough, it was insane. The minari fragrance was amazing, and the owner's pancake-frying skills are just top-tier..

Golden, crisply fried signature minari pancake

It was fried a beautiful golden brown, crisp even in the middle, and delicious — and even after it cooled down, it wasn't soggy, still crispy..?

The bossam and seasoned minari

The bossam had no off smell, was tender, and honestly better than a lot of dedicated bossam restaurants..ㅠㅠ They said the dried radish strips that come with it are homemade too, and putting them on top of the bossam was so good.

The seasoned minari was super fresh too, with an insane real minari fragrance!! I'm not exaggerating, so seriously, you have to try it..

The whole conch stew broth

And now for the big one, the whole conch stew.. There's a whole-conch place I go to often in Gongdeok, and this was better than that.

Whole conch stew filled with conch and clams

One sip of the broth and I just let out a satisfied sigh.. it's clean-tasting with a refreshing, spicy kick.

The conch and clams were super fresh, chewy and plump — so delicious ㅠㅠ. My real conclusion here: this is a restaurant more than a bar..

The food was seriously amazing, but more than anything, the owner and staff kept treating us with smiles and kindness the whole time, which made the whole meal feel great ㅜㅜ! Great taste plus great service — definitely a place I want to come back to!

The review-event injeolmi ice cream and complimentary sugared tomatoes

The injeolmi ice cream we got for the review event! Even though it was a free event item, the quality was great and the portion was generous! Perfect palate cleanser at the end ㅠㅠ

The owner even threw in some sweet sugared tomatoes on the house, so we finished the meal with a refreshing bite, haha.

Final thoughts

From the food to the atmosphere to the kindness, Buchigom near Yeongdeungpo-gu Office was excellent all around! There were lots of dishes that go well with makgeolli, and everything we ate was delicious! Apparently they also make their own pig's-blood sausage (piсsundae) in-house? Since they're known for it, I'm planning to come back specifically for that next time,,,

If you're looking for a great-vibe, delicious Korean bar with outdoor tent seating near Yeongdeungpo-gu Office for work dinners, gatherings, or dates, I recommend Buchigom!
