Salmon poke on oat brown rice at Ola Poke, a Gangnam poke restaurant
In short
Ola Poke Gangnam is a poke restaurant near Gangnam Station in Seoul that builds its bowls on oat brown rice. Visiting alone, the writer ordered the Super Protein Poke (14,000 won) and Buldak Octopus Kkakdugi to take out, and the salmon and toppings were generous enough for a filling meal. Ola Poke Gangnam suits a day when a salad-style lunch still needs to be hearty.

A poke bowl near Gangnam Station instead of waiting in line
I finished work early that day and wandered around Gangnam by myself — hit up Zara, checked out lululemon, walked around here and there — and got hungry haha. I'd originally thought about trying Chipotle since it's supposedly hot right now, but wow, the line was seriously way too long lol.

There was no way I could wait that long, so I searched around Gangnam on the Superchart app and found this place. I saw photos and the poke looked pretty tasty, so I figured I'd just give it a shot and went!

If you search the location on Naver Maps, it tells you to come out of Exit 1... but there turned out to be way more restaurants than expected in the basement of the Ssangyong Platinum building. Honestly I got a bit lost ㅜㅜㅜ so I took photos of the entrance on my way out!

Ta-da, this is it! Go in through the Building 101 entrance and head left right away, and it's much easier to find :) 👇Save this address and head over!

A store atmosphere that made solo dining easy
Once I stepped inside, the space was bigger and cleaner than I expected!

I visited around 5:30pm and ordered and waited, and a little while later people started trickling in — must have been end-of-work-day timing. What I especially liked was that the solo seats have phone holders 😂

That kind of thing is honestly so convenient when you're eating alone. Good for watching videos while you eat or taking a quick break scrolling your phone — the vibe was pretty comfortable for a solo visit too.

Super Protein Poke and Buldak Octopus Kkakdugi
Menu

I took out the Super Protein Poke, apparently one of the best menu items, and the Buldak Octopus Kkakdugi (spicy octopus with diced radish kimchi) I'd been curious about!

From the moment I opened the takeout container, the portion was bigger than I expected. When you hear "salad" you tend to think of something light, but this one had oat brown rice in it, so the whole bowl felt fairly substantial. And what I loved while eating this poke was that it came with half an avocado!

The avocado was nice and fresh, and the vegetables overall felt fresh too. Most of all, the Super Protein Poke was loaded with a really generous amount of salmon, which was satisfying. With plenty of salmon plus vegetables and rice together, the overall balance with the dressing worked out really well. Salads or poke bowls can sometimes get a little boring as you eat, but the sauce tied everything together so well that I enjoyed it all the way to the last bite.

A poke bowl that fills you up without feeling heavy
And the Buldak Octopus Kkakdugi I ordered out of curiosity! I was honestly a bit worried the octopus dish would have that typical frozen-seafood taste, but the octopus pieces were bigger than expected and there was no frozen taste at all, which I liked.
The seasoning was spicy too, so it paired really well with the poke. I ended up finishing this one entirely as well lol. Eating alone, the portions were quite generous, so after finishing both items I was genuinely stuffed 😂
Something I find a bit disappointing when I eat poke or salad is that even though it feels healthy, I often get hungry again quickly. But here, with the oat brown rice and generous toppings overall, it definitely felt like a full meal. The Super Protein Poke especially had so much salmon that the portion felt good for the price. It was ₩14,000!
According to the restaurant's description, they receive fresh vegetables daily and source their salmon and tuna through specialized suppliers. They also make their sauces in-house, and after tasting it, I understood why the overall flavor balance was so good 👍
Of course, I tried this after receiving it through Superchart this time, but personally what I liked most about this place was the generous portions and how filling it was :) If you're looking for somewhere to eat solo in Gangnam, or want a hearty meal that isn't too heavy, and you like poke or salads, I think it's worth a visit 🥗
