🍔 Daeheung Station burger spot Bored & Hungry Mapo. My mom, Rocky, and I went for a walk along the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail (경의선숲길) near Gongdeok and then had lunch 🐶🌿. Walking the trail with a dog is great, but there's always one thing I end up worrying about afterward.

"So where do we eat?" A lot of places only allow dogs on the terrace, so when it's too hot or too cold, finding somewhere to sit with Rocky gets surprisingly tricky. That day I wanted a burger, so I looked around and found Bored & Hungry Mapo, a burger spot near Daeheung Station. Best of all, when I visited, dogs were conditionally allowed indoors, so my mom, Rocky, and I all had lunch together 💛

📍 Bored & Hungry Mapo / 36 Gwangseong-ro 6-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, 1st floor. It's easy to find from Daeheung Station and works well as a stop alongside a walk on the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail. We didn't head straight there for lunch either — my mom, Rocky, and I strolled the trail slowly first before arriving.

The moment we got there, the exterior grabbed my attention. The whole building is covered in a huge monkey character and graffiti, so you can tell it's Bored & Hungry from a distance, haha. It has such a strong American street vibe that the outside alone was worth photographing.

What are the conditions for bringing a dog indoors?

🐶 Here's the part Rocky's crew cares about most — whether dogs are allowed. I asked a staff member directly when we visited.

• Dogs were allowed if they stayed inside a carrier, tote bag, or stroller.
• Letting a dog down on the floor or walk around indoors was not allowed.

We ate our meal with Rocky staying quietly inside his tote bag. Pet policies can change, so it's most accurate to double-check with the store on the day you visit.

There was an unexpectedly touching moment here too 💛 The staff member noticed Rocky and brought over a separate cup of water for him. And it was even cutely labeled 'puppy water'

haha. My mom and I both thought it was so cute. Rocky was probably thirsty after our trail walk, so this little bit of thoughtfulness really stood out.

A hip American burger joint vibe

🇺🇸 Step inside and the mood from the exterior carries right through. A black-and-white checkered floor lined with yellow chairs makes it feel like something out of an American movie burger joint! The packaging and character design have real personality too, so it was fun to take photos. It felt casual enough to make a nice lunch stop after a date walking the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail.

What we ordered for two, and the total

🍔 My mom and I ordered a Chipotle Spicy Burger + corn ribs + soda, and a Classic Cheeseburger + seasoned fries + soda.

The receipt total came to ₩35,200. With one burger each plus corn ribs and fries to share, it made for a pretty filling lunch for two.

The second the burgers arrived, Rocky's eyes suddenly lit up, haha. He gave us this look like "Mom, is that maybe mine?" — so I think I ended up taking more photos of Rocky than of the burgers 🐶

Chipotle Spicy Burger

🌶️ The visual alone made a statement — the patty was practically spilling out from between the buns. What I loved was the texture of the thin, smash-pressed patty. The edges were crisped up nicely, which gave a great contrast against the soft bun. Add in the spicy kick of the chipotle, and it's a good pick for anyone who wants something bolder than a basic cheeseburger!

You can really see the crispy edges of the patty in the photo, right? Eating this neatly in one bite is out of the question, haha — it's the kind of burger you just have to pick up properly and dig in.

Classic Cheeseburger

🧀 The other order was the Classic Cheeseburger, the basic menu item. If you prefer the simple patty-and-cheese combo over flashy toppings, this is the one. Meat patty and cheese between a soft bun — exactly the classic combo you picture when you think of a burger. If you're going with your mom, ordering one spicy and one classic to share is a good move too.

Corn ribs as a side, highly recommended

🌽 The dish that surprisingly stole the show that day was the corn ribs. Doesn't it look amazing just from the photo? The corn is sliced lengthwise and grilled, meant to be picked up and eaten by hand — the natural sweetness of the corn paired with a salty, slightly punchy seasoning made it a great thing to pick at between bites of burger.

They photograph really well too, so if you want to try a side other than fries, I'd recommend ordering the corn ribs alongside.

🍟 A burger without fries would feel incomplete, haha. The fries were crispy with seasoning added, and dipping them in sauce kept my hand reaching back for more.

🐶 Personally, what made this visit even better wasn't just the tasty burgers — it was being able to eat together, all three of us, my mom, Rocky, and me. When you're out and about in Seoul with a dog, there are plenty of places to walk, but finding somewhere you can actually go inside and eat together isn't so easy.

That's exactly why this day's route felt so satisfying. Walk the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail → head to Bored & Hungry Mapo with Rocky → burger lunch. Put together like that, it made for the perfect half-day outing with a dog 💛 Rocky stayed calm inside his bag the whole time, so my mom and I got to enjoy a relaxed lunch.

✔️ I visited Bored & Hungry Mapo while looking for a good burger spot near Daeheung Station. In a hip, American-inspired space, I had a satisfying meal of smash-style burgers, corn ribs, and fries. Best of all, for those of us who travel with dogs, I appreciated that at the time of my visit, indoor dining was allowed as long as the dog stayed inside a carrier, tote bag, or stroller.
