I went to Ubokgeum Saenggalbi, a beef rib place new to Namak.
More and more good restaurants have been popping up in Namak lately, and this time I was craving proper beef short ribs. The name itself — 'Ubokgeum Saenggalbi' (우복금생갈비) — practically screams rib specialist!
Parking at the public lot across the street
The location alone won me over.

There's a public parking lot right across from the restaurant, so parking was easy. Driving out for a meal in Namak usually means worrying about parking, but here you just park and walk across the street — done!

Interior and basic side dishes
The interior was clean, with 4-person and 6-person tables, so it looked good for a family dinner or a gathering with several people.
Once you sit down, the basic side dishes arrive — steamed egg and mustard leaf kimchi.

Anyone who loves mustard leaf kimchi with meat will be pleased. Its sharp, refreshing bite cuts through the richness of the meat and worked really well with the beef short ribs.
The best part: staff grill the meat for you
But the thing I liked most about Ubokgeum Saenggalbi was this!

They grill the meat for you.
This is genuinely so convenient.
At any rib restaurant, someone always ends up being the designated griller — flipping constantly, watching for burning, and while you're busy chatting, one side ends up overcooked...
But here, the staff grill the meat perfectly, so all we had to do was sit back and eat.
It's a real perk especially for family meals or dates.
Beef short ribs at ₩58,000 — delicious, but every bite counts
Today's main dish was of course the beef short ribs (sogalbi)!
One plate of beef short ribs costs 58,000 won.
One plate is definitely not enough.
The meat itself was truly delicious.
The staff grill it to perfection on the grill plate, and watching the ribs turn golden brown makes you hungrier by the second.
Pop a well-grilled piece of beef short rib into your mouth and you get that savory meaty aroma and juiciness — and best of all, not having to grill it yourself makes it so easy to enjoy.
The meat is delicious, but... when you think about the price, every single piece becomes precious. Haha.
'Kids, let's eat slowly.' That's the kind of thought this price puts in your head. 🤣

Besides the beef short ribs, seasoned beef short ribs are also available at 58,000 won, and there's pork rib on the menu too, so you can choose based on your taste.
The surprise hit: medium crab jjiglae stew at ₩14,000
And there was one more surprise hit dish that day.
The crab jjiglae stew (꽃게짜글이, stuffed crab stew)!

We ordered the medium size crab jjiglae, priced at 14,000 won.
Honestly, I first thought 'it's just the medium size, probably a modest side dish'... but boy was I wrong.
It's absolutely loaded with crab. Even as the medium size, it had crab piled in like a large portion — I was genuinely surprised.
And the crab jjiglae itself is really delicious.
The broth has that deep crab umami fully drawn out, so it's great with rice, and taking a spoonful between bites of meat instantly refreshes your palate!
We only ordered one medium portion, but the amount was substantial — the four of us ate it together and still felt it was plenty.
After the beef short ribs and the crab jjiglae, the meal wrapped up feeling very satisfying and filling.
Personally, if you visit Ubokgeum Saenggalbi, I'd recommend getting the crab jjiglae alongside the meat.
What kind of day is this good for
So rather than a neighborhood rib place you'd go to every day, this feels like somewhere to visit on a day when you think, 'I really want good beef short ribs today!'
If you prioritize taste and convenience over price, you'll likely be very satisfied.
Having staff grill the meat for you is a huge advantage in particular. You can focus on conversation while eating, it's easy with family, and on a date the mood never gets disrupted, so you can eat comfortably.
Parking was also convenient thanks to the public lot right across the street, which was a plus for accessibility.
With both 4-person and 6-person tables available, it seems to work well for everything from a small meal to a family gathering to a group dinner.
If you're looking for a new rib restaurant in Namak, this is worth a visit at least once.
I especially think I'll come back on a day when I think, 'I don't want to grill meat myself today!' Haha. Comfortably eating beef short ribs grilled well by the staff, plus a crab jjiglae that was packed with crab even at the medium size, makes for a pretty satisfying meal.

If you're looking for a place that grills delicious beef short ribs for you, this is worth experiencing at least once. I enjoyed my meal a lot.
If you're craving delicious beef short ribs for a special occasion, or want to eat comfortably without the hassle of grilling yourself, I recommend Ubokgeum Saenggalbi, the new rib restaurant in Namak.
And be sure to remember the crab jjiglae. Even at the medium size, it was loaded with crab — plenty for four people — and the staff even picked out the crab meat for us, making it easy and delicious to eat.
