Muan Korean BBQ family dinner with baby seat: Ubokgeum Saenggalbi
In short
Ubokgeum Saenggalbi Mokpo Namak Branch is a pork and beef rib restaurant in Namak, Muan, South Jeolla, where staff grill the meat tableside over charcoal. Visiting at 6pm with her husband and daughter, the writer finished half plates each of fresh pork ribs and seasoned pork ribs, plus a free kimchi noodle soup from a review event and a crab-added doenjang jjigae. With a baby chair and generous spacing between tables, it worked well as a family dinner spot with a young child.

Visited at 6pm, no wait
I went to Ubokgeum Saenggalbi Mokpo Namak Branch. I got there around 6pm and was seated right away with no wait. There were quite a few customers inside, and I saw families dining together too.

Interior, private rooms, and baby chairs

Inside, the place was clean overall, the tables weren't crammed together, and the space felt fairly spacious.

There were private rooms toward the back, but all of them were booked when I visited. Baby chairs were ready, and staff grilled the meat from start to finish, so it seemed like a good spot for family meals or group gatherings.
Where the restroom is

The restroom isn't inside the restaurant itself — it's located in the building's shared commercial area. It was close enough that it wasn't inconvenient to use during the meal, and it was separated by gender and kept clean.
Menu and ordering

I ordered pork fresh ribs and pork seasoned ribs, half a plate of each. Pork fresh ribs half plate is ₩21,000, and pork seasoned ribs half plate is also ₩21,000.

I wanted to try both, so I ordered half plates of each — the portions were generous enough that I was glad I did.
Basic side dishes

There were plenty of basic side dishes to go with the meat — radish pickle, scallion salad, onion salad, myeongi namul (mountain garlic leaves), and gat kimchi (mustard leaf kimchi). The warm steamed egg was nice to eat between bites of meat, and the dongchimi (watery radish kimchi) was cool and clean, good for cutting through the richness.
Pork ribs grilled over charcoal

After ordering, the charcoal was ready. A staff member put the meat on and grilled it themselves until it was just right, so we didn't have to worry about grilling and could just relax and eat.
The perfectly grilled meat gets placed on a stand for you. Then all you have to do is enjoy it.

Pork fresh ribs

My favorite dish was the pork fresh ribs. Maybe because the staff grilled them so well, the juices stayed moist and the meat was tender.

I didn't expect fresh ribs to be this good — they were way better than I thought.
Dipping a piece of fresh rib in salt, I could really taste the meat itself. It was tender and moist enough to eat plain, and it also went well with the side dishes.

Wrapped with myeongi namul and gat kimchi

I also loved wrapping the meat in myeongi namul and gat kimchi..🤤 Switching up the wraps with each bite meant I never got tired of it, even by the last piece.
Pork seasoned ribs
I ordered a half plate of pork seasoned ribs to go along with the fresh ribs. The flavor was completely different from the fresh ribs, so it was nice to alternate between the two.
Eating the fresh ribs first and then the seasoned ribs, I could really tell the difference between the two, and I felt good about ordering half plates of each.
Kimchi noodle soup from the review event

As part of a review event, I also got kimchi-mari guksu (cold kimchi noodle soup) for free. Total win — I was already full, but it was so good it went right in. 🤭🤫
Doenjang jjigae with crab
This crab doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) is my downfall..🤤 With the crab in it, the broth is clean but spicy-savory and really delicious!

My husband, who'd been eating happily, said he just couldn't hold back and ordered a beer.. I shook my head at him 🙂↔️ That's the drink you always order when the food is good. If my husband doesn't order a side drink, the place isn't a real find.

We really ate well, didn't we? haha We cleaned every single plate.
What made it easy for a family dinner
The most convenient part of visiting as a family was that the staff grilled the meat for us the whole time. Eating with my husband and daughter, it would have been a bit chaotic if I'd also had to grill the meat myself, but since the staff handled it from start to finish, we could just relax and chat while eating. Seeing my picky-eater daughter enjoy the meal, I think anyone would love this place..🥰
