I've been dieting seriously lately, so when I eat out I try to find salads or poke bowls with plenty of vegetables instead of just eating whatever, haha. Today I had errands in Hyehwa and had to handle lunch alone.

Daehak-ro has so many great restaurants that the temptation is real... lol. But today I decided to stick to my diet resolve and searched for salad restaurants in Daehak-ro, which led me to Sallering Daehak-ro!

Sallering Daehak-ro isn't just about salads — it has a variety of bibim poke bowls, soups, and drinks. Best of all, it wasn't awkward to visit alone, so it's a good spot for anyone looking for a solo lunch place in Hyehwa. I ordered the scallop-shrimp bibim poke along with a peach plum ade and yellow juice, and I was honestly shocked at the size of the shrimp and scallops, lol. Let's get into the detailed review!

Where is Sallering Daehak-ro, and what are its hours?

Sallering Daehak-ro is located at 24 Daehak-ro 10-gil, 1st floor, Jongno-gu, Seoul, close to Exit 2 of Hyehwa Station. It's open from 10:00 to 20:00, with last order at 19:30.

The location works well for a meal before or after seeing a show in Daehak-ro, and it's also convenient for office workers or students dropping by for lunch. Once you arrive, the green accent out front immediately catches your eye! There are even cute chairs outside, so it was easy to find even on my first visit. The green look really suits the name Sallering and stands out from a distance, haha. It's a good location for anyone looking for a salad restaurant in Daehak-ro for a light meal in Hyehwa.

Why take the subway to Hyehwa Station instead of driving

Parking is a bit tricky in the Daehak-ro area in general. Sallering Daehak-ro is the same — public transit seemed more convenient than driving. Since it's close to Hyehwa Station, I'd recommend the subway if you can.

Besides eating in the store, takeout and delivery are also available. If you don't have time to visit in person, you can enjoy this poke restaurant near Hyehwa Station via takeout or delivery. And if you're alone in Hyehwa like me, feel free to enjoy a comfortable solo lunch in Hyehwa at the store!

Inside Sallering Daehak-ro: roomier than expected

Going inside Sallering Daehak-ro, the interior was quite a bit bigger than it looked from outside. When you think of a salad or poke specialty shop, you might picture a small takeout-focused place, but Sallering Daehak-ro was comfortable enough to sit down and eat leisurely.

There's enough space whether you're visiting alone like me or coming with friends. So it's not just good for people looking for a solo lunch in Hyehwa, but also for friends wanting a healthy meal together in Daehak-ro.

Green plant accents in the dining room

Sallering Daehak-ro has an overall clean atmosphere with a standout green accent interior. The green you see from outside carries naturally into the interior too, giving it a fresh feel that suits a salad specialty shop, haha.

The clean, bright atmosphere made it comfortable to enter alone. Personally, when eating solo, taste matters but so does the atmosphere. Places that feel too much like a bar or geared toward groups can feel awkward to enter alone, but this place had none of that vibe. So if you're looking for a salad restaurant in Daehak-ro where you can eat comfortably alone, this is worth keeping in mind!

Ordering at the Sallering Daehak-ro kiosk

You order at Sallering Daehak-ro using the in-store kiosk. It was convenient to browse the menu slowly and pick what I wanted.

When you visit alone, there's that rushed feeling of choosing a menu in front of a staff member, right? Lol. With the kiosk, I could look over the menu lineup and decide comfortably. After ordering, water and utensils are available self-serve in a separate area.

What's on the menu at Sallering Daehak-ro?

At the time of my visit, the wrap menu had apparently been discontinued. Instead, there was a wide variety of bibim poke bowls available!

Smoked duck, fried tofu, soy meat, beef brisket, Atlantic salmon bibim poke — you can pick based on your taste, which I liked. Rather than just a few similar poke options, there's a wide range of main topping choices, so you could visit multiple times and try something different each time. Anyone looking for a poke restaurant near Hyehwa Station should be able to find something that suits their taste!

Soups and drinks: butter corn, bacon potato, truffle mushroom

Besides poke, there were soups that pair well as sides. At the time of my visit, the menu included butter corn soup, bacon potato soup, and truffle mushroom soup.

If just a salad or poke feels a little lacking, ordering a warm soup alongside can make the meal more filling. There were also several drink options to choose from to match your taste. Eating the same thing every time while dieting gets old fast, so having a salad restaurant in Daehak-ro with this much variety is great for managing your diet.

What I ordered at Sallering Daehak-ro

After some thought, what I ordered was — the scallop-shrimp bibim poke, plus peach plum ade and yellow juice for drinks.

I love shrimp so that was an easy pick, but hearing that scallops were included too made me even more excited, haha. The colors were so vibrant that I took photos as soon as it arrived, lol.

What the scallop and shrimp bibim poke looks like

Ta-da~~~! My first thought when the scallop-shrimp bibim poke arrived was, "the portion is actually pretty solid." There were plenty of vegetables too, which was exactly what I wanted while making sure to eat my veggies during my diet.

But what caught my eye first were the scallops and shrimp! Seriously... can you see the size of the shrimp and scallops??? Lol. They were bigger than I expected, so the visual alone was satisfying.

Big shrimp and scallops in the poke bowl

If the shrimp is too small, it gets buried under the other ingredients and loses presence, but with Sallering Daehak-ro's scallop-shrimp bibim poke, the shrimp and scallops had clear presence in every bite. You could taste the shrimp's springy texture together with the scallop's soft texture — delicious.

With various vegetables mixed in too, it was fun eating several ingredients together in each bite. Personally, when I pick poke near Hyehwa Station, it's disappointing if the toppings are skimpy, so I liked that Sallering Daehak-ro's main ingredients were generously sized.

Adding the sauce and mixing the bibim poke

Of course, with poke you have to add the sauce and mix it well, haha. After adding the sauce, I mixed everything together thoroughly from the vegetables to the toppings. The taste was completely different eating each ingredient separately versus mixed with the sauce.

Crisp vegetables, springy shrimp, and scallops all in one bite — delicious~~~ Some people dislike salads because they feel like just eating a pile of greens, but with poke, since you eat various toppings and sauce together, it feels much more satisfying while managing your diet.

A filling lunch that still fits a diet

I was dieting that day too, so I chose this menu, and I was glad it turned out delicious. If dieting means only eating bland food, I could never keep it up for long, lol.

That's why I personally like poke bowls where you can enjoy vegetables and various toppings at once. Especially the scallop-shrimp bibim poke I had that day — plenty of vegetables plus shrimp and scallops together made it satisfying. If you're looking for a salad restaurant in Daehak-ro or poke while dieting in Hyehwa, check out the menu!

Why Sallering Daehak-ro works for a solo lunch in Hyehwa

I really did visit alone that day and it wasn't awkward at all. The store is spacious, and with kiosk ordering, it was comfortable to walk in alone, choose a menu, and eat.

So I'd recommend it to anyone needing to eat alone before or after a show in Daehak-ro, or looking for a solo lunch spot in Hyehwa near school or work. Instead of settling for a convenience store meal just because you're eating alone, why not have a proper bowl of poke, haha.

The reasons I felt Sallering Daehak-ro worked well as a solo lunch spot in Hyehwa are: it's close to Hyehwa Station so accessibility is good, and the atmosphere isn't awkward to enter alone. For anyone managing their diet like me, poke seems like a pretty solid solo lunch option in Hyehwa.

Is Sallering Daehak-ro good for a group of friends?

Just because it's good for solo dining doesn't mean it's only for solo customers. Since the store itself is spacious, it was also good for visiting and eating with friends.

One friend could get beef brisket, I could get salmon, another friend fried tofu — everyone picking their own topping makes it easy to match different preferences, haha. Good for friends meeting up in Daehak-ro who want something light rather than a heavy meal — this poke restaurant near Hyehwa Station works well.
