I love bake shop pastries like financiers, madeleines, and canelés.
I even make them at home sometimes haha. Every time I do, I'm shocked by how much butter goes in, and then shocked again by how fast I demolish them — but they're so good, what can you do.
Since I was in Gongdeok anyway, I stopped by Fluffy Bake Shop for dessert after a while.
I'd bought pastries here as a gift before, picking the prettiest-shaped ones at the time. The reaction was explosive, so naturally this place came to mind again.
Where is Fluffy Bake Shop, and where do you park?
Fluffy Bake Shop is about a 5-minute walk from Exit 1 of Gongdeok Station, inside the Gongdeok Park Xi commercial building. I go to this building occasionally, and from what I remember, you get about 30 minutes free parking as standard without even mentioning it to the store. You should check whether extra parking support is available, but 30 minutes was plenty for picking out pastries and packing up.
Inside Fluffy Bake Shop: atmosphere and seating
The storefront itself is pretty enough to catch your eye even just passing by.
Inside, pastries are lined up in a row, and there's such a variety that it's fun just browsing. When I went, there were still plenty of types left to choose from, but being a popular spot, a few things had already sold out here and there. If there's a specific type you really want, it's better to go a bit earlier rather than too late.
It looks mostly takeout-focused, but there's a small seating area inside where you can eat. Not a café with a lot of seats, but it seemed fine for grabbing pastries with a coffee and sitting for a bit.
What to pick: one of each pastry
Madeleines, financiers, canelés, even salt bread — all the things I love, in abundance.
Fluffy Bake Shop is especially known for its wide range of madeleines and financiers, and they say they use AOP-grade Lescure butter. Since butter flavor matters so much in bake shop pastries, that detail catches my eye too.
Last time I bought as a gift, I picked mostly for pretty shapes — but today it was all for me, so I picked purely by taste. One salt bread went in too, plus one of each pastry I like. I meant to buy just a little, but even one of each adds up fast haha.
Laid out at home: the Earl Grey madeleine went first
I didn't eat the moment I got home — I spread everything out and took photos first.
Bake shop pastries are great because they taste good and look pretty too. Laying them out nicely puts me in a good mood haha. Looking at it all like this, I did well shopping today.
After taking a bunch of photos, the first thing I grabbed was an Earl Grey madeleine. I brewed a coffee to have with it, and... wow, absolutely delicious. The Earl Grey aroma was great, and with the coffee it vanished in no time. I almost tore into a second one right there but held back. If I eat them all at once I'll turn into a pig, so I'm rationing them out one at a time haha.

Fluffy Bake Shop is a place I think of not just for myself but especially when looking for a Gongdeok dessert gift. Each pastry has its own distinct, pretty shape, so mixing several kinds together looks great when you open the box. That's exactly why the gift I gave before got such a good reaction.
Gift boxes need to be purchased separately, and can be packed in sets of 4, 6, or 15 depending on how many you need. They also take bulk orders for things like company or school events.
If you don't know the recipient's taste, go for a mix of pretty shapes; if it's for yourself, just fill it with your favorite flavors. This time I was thoroughly the latter haha.
Is Fluffy Bake Shop worth it for dessert in Gongdeok?
It's close to Gongdeok Station and has parking, so it's an easy stop for pastries when you're in the area. Packing them to go and eating at home with coffee, like I did, works great, or you can eat right away in the small seating area inside. Most of all, for anyone who loves financiers, madeleines, and canelés, just the time spent picking flavors is fun.
This time I picked purely by my own taste, so now there's just one thing left to do. Eat only one a day. We'll see if that's actually possible haha.
