Anseong café when brunch is off: choco baguette at Chat Baker
In short
Chat Baker Brunch & Bakery Café is a large two-floor bakery café inside an outlet building in Gongdo-eup, Anseong, near Anseong Farm Land and Starfield. The plan was pasta and risotto brunch, but brunch orders were unavailable that day, so the order became ambutter salt bread, choco baguette, an iced americano and Chat Baker's signature Jeju raw carrot lemon juice. No brunch, but the bread, the coffee and the roomy second floor with floor seating still made the trip worth it.

I went for a drive near Anseong Farm Land and Starfield and stopped by the bakery café Chat Baker. I'd originally come to enjoy a leisurely brunch, but brunch orders weren't possible that day due to store circumstances, so I ended up enjoying bread and coffee instead.

Parking at Chat Baker: the outlet lot is the café lot
Chat Baker is located inside the outlet building in Gongdo-eup, Anseong, so the parking is very spacious and easy. Parking is one of the most important factors when visiting any café or restaurant, and since you can just use the outlet's own parking lot, even nervous drivers can park without any stress.

What bread is on the first-floor display at Chat Baker
On the first floor of Chat Baker there's the counter and bakery display case, with seating off to the side. I didn't expect the café to be this big from the outside, but once you step in there's a real sense of openness. It's a large two-floor café with high ceilings, and sunlight pours in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, making the space bright and pleasant. The whole place is filled with the smell of baking bread, haha.

Chat Baker's bakery display case is enclosed with doors for hygiene. There was quite a wide variety of bread types.

Butter scone, chocolate scone, almond kouign-amann, almond croissant, mont blanc, single-layer croissant, cream puff, ham cheese corn toast, custard cream butter toast, tomato basil cheese stick, ham cheese croissant, and more.

Cakes, sandwiches...

Giant soufflé castella, cookies, butter rice cakes...

They also had white bread loaves. There was such a wide variety I wanted to eat everything... it was hard to choose... T_T. They bake a really diverse range of bakery items fresh in-store every day — from plain, mild breads to sweet desserts to meal-replacement breads, the lineup is rich enough to be heaven for anyone who loves bread!!

Brunch unavailable that day, so drinks instead
I'd originally come to eat brunch menu items like pasta and risotto, but on this day Chat Baker's brunch menu wasn't taking orders due to store circumstances... T_T. It was disappointing, but we decided to just have bread and drinks instead — !! We ordered an iced americano and the Jeju raw carrot lemon juice :) I heard it's a signature menu item..!!!

There were also posters up, so it looks like they hold jazz performances too.
Inside Chat Baker's big, airy second floor

The moment I went up I was amazed by the huge interior space..!!! The interior design felt stylish, and there were various types of seating. The seats were spaced out generously, so it looked like a great place to chat without being disturbed by nearby noise. From large tables to comfortable sofa seats, it's well suited for family visits or date courses.

Floor seating that works with a baby
There's also floor seating on Chat Baker's second floor, which looked great for visiting with a young baby. It's quite spacious, making it ideal for families with kids. In fact, there were several families visiting with children.

On one side of the second floor, there was even an oven set up for reheating bread.

How the ambutter salt bread and choco baguette tasted
What I picked at Chat Baker was ambutter salt bread and choco baguette, with an iced americano and the Jeju raw carrot lemon juice to drink. The bread comes cut into nice bite-sized pieces for you.

One bite in and I thought, this place is a bread paradise..!!! The chocolate bread was so good I demolished it in no time. The coffee was great too, and the signature Jeju raw carrot lemon juice had a refreshing, appealing flavor. It was so good that I bought a few more breads to go — white bread, sausage bread — and ate them at home, and they were all delicious :) Anseong's bread scene, confirmed.

Why Chat Baker fits an Anseong day trip
If you're near Anseong Farm Land or Starfield and looking for a large café with easy parking and plenty of space, I'd recommend Chat Baker.

I didn't get to try the brunch on this visit, but the quality of the bread and coffee, plus the pleasant atmosphere of the second-floor space, made it well worth the visit on its own. Next time, I'll check ahead of time and try the brunch menu again. Recommended as part of an Anseong outing or a weekend drive destination :)
