Gyeongju pie bakery gift for my sister: Gyeongju Tokyo Pie 6-piece set
In short
Gyeongju Tokyo Pie is a handmade pie bakery a 3-minute walk from the main street of Hwangnidan-gil in Gyeongju. As a travel gift for a younger sister who loves pie desserts, the writer had the 3-flavor premium gift set (6 pieces) boxed up with apple pie, red bean (anko) pie and chocolat pie, timing the visit to the 14:30 second bake to get apple pies straight from the oven. Even eaten late that night at home, the pastry at Gyeongju Tokyo Pie was still crisp, making it an easy dessert gift to carry back from Hwangnidan-gil.

'Tokyo Pie' in Gyeongju?
It might feel a little odd, but I visited Gyeongju Tokyo Pie to buy a Gyeongju travel gift for my sister, who loves pie-style desserts. Before wrapping up a trip to Gyeongju, it's a great dessert to grab lightly on Hwangnidan-gil before heading home — a Gyeongju dessert gift for my sister!
Where is Gyeongju Tokyo Pie? 3 minutes from the Hwangnidan-gil main street
Gyeongju Tokyo Pie is a handmade pie bakery located in Hwangnidan-gil, Gyeongju! It's about a 3-minute walk from the main street of Hwangnidan-gil.

Customers lining up in front of Gyeongju Tokyo Pie waiting for their handmade pies! Most people seemed to buy pies individually and eat them on the spot.
Menu at Gyeongju Tokyo Pie: apple, red bean (anko) and chocolat pie

The signature 'Gyeongju Tokyo Pie' with apple, plus 'Tokyo Red Bean Pie' and 'Tokyo Chocolat Pie', can be bought individually or as a 6- or 9-piece gift set.

I could see the chocolat pie and red bean pie displayed,

When do the pies come out? 11:30 first bake, 14:30 second bake
No apple pie!? I happened to visit right around 2:30pm — turns out that's exactly when the second batch comes out! Gyeongju Tokyo Pie bakes twice a day, at 11:30 and 14:30, making and selling everything the same day.

So I got lucky and received an apple pie fresh out of the oven! Since it was a gift for my sister, I had it packed as the 3-flavor premium gift set (6 pieces)!
Events and discounts at Gyeongju Tokyo Pie

Gyeongju Tokyo Pie also runs various events — 50% off pie on your birthday! A free pie if you win the timer-guessing event! And if you buy over ₩9,000 worth of pie and use a Naver Place coupon, they give you a free glass of apple ade.
Opening the 3-flavor set at home: refrigerate for up to 2 days

After finishing my Gyeongju trip and coming home, I handed the gift to my sister, and that evening we ate the Gyeongju Tokyo Pie set together. For reference, refrigerate up to 2 days, freeze up to 1 week!

By the way, the 3-flavor premium gift set includes red bean pie and chocolat pie alongside the apple pie, so it was nice being able to try one of each.

Apple pie with whole apple inside, the signature Gyeongju Tokyo Pie
Made with domestic apples, the apple pie 'Gyeongju Tokyo Pie' had a real fruit flavor rather than a sharp jam-like sweetness, which I liked.

Tokyo Red Bean (Anko) Pie
Filled with red bean paste, the 'Tokyo Red Bean Pie' was surprisingly not too sweet, so it was plain and delicious :)

Tokyo Chocolat Pie, still crisp late at night
And filled with chocolate, the 'Tokyo Chocolat Pie' — there's actual chocolate inside a crispy pie shell!? haha
This is definitely going to be delicious!
Above all, even after quite a while had passed since buying them, and even eating them late at night, all three pies kept their crisp texture! Being a Japanese-style pie specialty shop, the crispness of the layered pie crust was genuinely impressive. The apple pie had that distinct fruity apple flavor I liked, and the red bean pie and chocolat pie were each delicious in their own different ways.
Is Gyeongju Tokyo Pie a good dessert gift from Hwangnidan-gil?
When traveling around Gyeongju, you often want to grab a simple snack or dessert from Hwangnidan-gil to bring home, and Gyeongju Tokyo Pie was an easy pick for that kind of Gyeongju travel souvenir. Like I did, you can pack the premium set with multiple flavors as a gift for family or friends, or just buy individual pieces to eat right away while traveling around Gyeongju!
If you have someone who especially loves apple pie or pie-style desserts, this is worth trying when you're looking for a slightly different kind of dessert gift in Gyeongju! I got to taste something distinctive with an apple pie that had real, whole apple pieces in it. If you're looking for a dessert gift you can easily carry from Hwangnidan-gil, packing the 3-flavor pie set from Gyeongju Tokyo Pie is a solid choice. This was the dessert I gave my sister after our Gyeongju trip — 'Gyeongju Tokyo Pie.'
