Yeouido Japanese restaurant for after-work window seats: Izawa

Today I visited Izawa, famous in Yeouido for gyukatsu (Japanese breaded beef cutlet)! Let me introduce it to you.

Izawa Yeouido Direct Store is right by Exit 5 of Yeouido Station, so it is easy to reach. Go into the building straight ahead, head up to the second floor, then keep walking to the right and you will spot Izawa!

At 6 p.m., the seats filled up fast

I visited at 6 p.m., and people who had already gotten off work were eating. They said everyone in your party has to arrive before you can enter, so keep that in mind! There were plenty of seats at first, but 10 minutes later they filled up so quickly that I understood why.

I grabbed a window seat overlooking Yeouido Station, haha. The after-work rush at Yeouido Station, wow. I could never work here. Security staff were directing people around because there seemed to be some event going on.

For parking, turn right into the alley in front of Exit 5 and you can park above ground for one hour~ Underground parking is not supported ❌

Ordering the two-gyukatsu-and-drinks set

The signature dishes are gyukatsu and the steki set meal, and the steki set is apparently the version without breading. They also sell lots of other dishes, including dontoro-don (pork jowl rice bowl), gyudon, ramen, mazesoba, momil noodles, and curry udon. For big eaters who need more meat, there is a double gyukatsu set meal too, just so you know ^u^

We ordered the set with two gyukatsu meals and drinks for ₩36,500. It is ₩1,500 cheaper, so I recommend it.

The food came out quickly! Even with the cabbage salad, the whole spread looked perfect. Miso soup too.

Quick-cooking gyukatsu, grilled two pieces at a time

You know you should not cook gyukatsu too much, right? Cook both sides just until the pinkness disappears, then take a bite and it melts away before you even realize you have chewed.

It is heavenly with wasabi! Can you see those meat juices, wow. It had been a while since I last had gyukatsu, and it was so delicious. Give it a nice press.

Isn't the quality of the meat so good? It cooks faster than you would think, so do two pieces at a time~!

The wasabi-and-soy-sauce combination was so good. There are two sauces, so it was fun choosing between them. The cabbage salad's peanut? dressing was so tasty that I got a refill.

There we were, diligently grilling. A bite of kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) after the gyukatsu, then salad to freshen the palate. One final sip of soda and I was in heaven. While we were eating, people started pouring in and the restaurant was already full.

Grill replacement and kiosk add-on orders

The crunchy kimchi was delicious. The grill got burnt because the coating stuck to it, so the two of us had it replaced twice. After about 30 minutes, the flame went out on its own! It went out right when we had finished eating, which was so fascinating. Also, it was convenient that we could add anything we needed on the kiosk without having to call a staff member.

There are single-person seats, so it seems like a great place to eat alone too. What a wonderful meal ♥

The weather was so nice when I came outside. Autumn is coming soon, so I think it is time to wear long sleeves. My arms are already chilly, haha.

I saw something interesting on the way home, hahaha. A Cybertruck being used for promotion like this!

I would still choose gyukatsu next time

I had actually stopped by Izawa Yeouido Direct Store once before while passing through! I remembered it being delicious, so I came back after a long time, and it was even better than before. Have my grilling skills improved?

Next time I want to try the pork jowl rice bowl, dontoro-don? But when I come back, I think I will still end up choosing gyukatsu. The atmosphere is nice from solo lunch through dinner, so I recommend it as a date spot for couples too!!!! A Yeouido Station restaurant approved 🙌🏻
