Magok Wetland Park walk then a 55,000 won pork omakase: Don Tamguso
In short
Don Tamguso is a pork omakase restaurant near Exit 3 of Magok Station in Gangseo, Seoul. For her birthday the writer spent the afternoon walking through Magok Wetland Ecological Park with her boyfriend, then sat down at Don Tamguso at 6:30pm for the 55,000 won per person dinner course, which runs from soup, salad and lasagna to tenderloin and pork belly. The Wando abalone risotto, chosen over the signature burger at the end, was the most memorable dish of the night.

Looking for a restaurant with a bit of atmosphere for an anniversary in Magok or Gangseo? I was racking my brain for somewhere special for my birthday with my boyfriend, and that's how we landed on Don Tamguso (돈탐구소).

The experience of having the chef cook right in front of us was so special, the pork omakase was great value at a reasonable price, and the signature abalone risotto genuinely surprised me — here's the full review.
Where is Don Tamguso, and how close is Magok Wetland Ecological Park?

Don Tamguso is a restaurant in Magok, close to Exit 3 of Magok Station. We spent the day walking around nearby Magok Wetland Ecological Park and arrived at 6:30pm.

Dining is available for 100 minutes, and we spent about 60 minutes enjoying our meal. If you're planning an anniversary date, I'd recommend walking the wetland park in the day and finishing with a course dinner at Don Tamguso in the evening.

If you're after a restaurant with good ambiance for a special day, this combination fits perfectly. The interior was quiet with generous table spacing, so it was cozy talking as a couple through the meal.

It felt like a comfortable place to book for special moments like a birthday, proposal, or anniversary without too much pressure.
The main course: tenderloin and pork belly

Don Tamguso's dinner course is ₩55,000 per person, starting with a soup made with celery, pear, apple and fresh cream, followed by a salad topped with dried persimmon, orange, apple, naengmyeon radish, and truffle oil.

After a lasagna with shiitake mushroom, white ragu, mozzarella, and scoby sauce, the structure moved into the mains: tenderloin and pork belly.

Being able to compare the soft, clean tenderloin against the pork belly with its lively spice notes side by side made the meal feel even richer.
Watching the chef cook right in front of the counter

Fine dining reservations for anniversaries usually come with a hefty price tag or a stiff atmosphere that's hard to relax into, right?

Don Tamguso runs in an omakase format where you can watch the chef cook right in front of you, all at a reasonable ₩55,000 per person.

📍TIP: You can use the space for 100 minutes, and if you want to enjoy it slowly while chatting like we did, about 60 minutes is still plenty of time for the full course.
Watching the cooking process happen right in front of us made the food taste even more special — each dish gave us the fun of watching as well as eating. Every menu item was so distinctive that photographing them was half the fun too.
Signature burger or Wando abalone risotto: how the course ends

After the mains, we got to choose between a signature burger with jambon, mucola, and fennel, or the signature risotto with Wando abalone, barley, glasswort, and Grana Padano.

The abalone risotto was seriously delicious. The fried glasswort on top, eaten together with the creamy risotto, gave this perfect combo of crispy and nutty flavors. It was memorable enough that I wanted to order it separately on its own.

To sum up, Don Tamguso is a Magok spot where you get a reasonably priced, special omakase experience plus a memorable signature dish. I'd especially recommend it to:

- ✅ Anyone looking for an anniversary restaurant in Magok or Gangseo
- ✅ Anyone who wants a reasonably priced omakase
- ✅ Anyone who wants the experience of watching the chef cook right in front of them
Complete your anniversary date by walking Magok Wetland Ecological Park in the day and finishing with a course dinner at Don Tamguso in the evening.
