Yeoksam Korean BBQ with window seats and clam kalguksu: Raviok

In short

Raviok Yeoksam Main Branch is an LA galbi Korean BBQ restaurant on the second floor inside the Yeoksam Station food alley in Gangnam, Seoul. With a reservation, the table was by the window, and the meal was two servings of snow-flake beef short rib roast (58,000 won), truffle steamed egg, and Jebudo clam kalguksu, with a staff member grilling the meat tableside during a white wine fire show. Raviok stays quiet for a BBQ place, so conversation is easy, and the total came to 79,000 won — a good fit for both a date and a group dinner.

When I have a dinner plan in Gangnam, I look for somewhere that delivers on both atmosphere and food. This time I went to Raviok Yeoksam Main Branch (라비옥 역삼본점). It's centered on LA galbi (marinated beef short rib), so it's worth a visit if you like meat, and the atmosphere is clean and put-together enough to work as a date spot or a group dinner place. Here's my rundown of a very satisfying visit.

Entrance to Raviok tucked inside the Yeoksam Station food alley

It's close enough to the exit that getting there by public transit was easy — about 320m from Yeoksam Station. Parking and reservations are both available, so it works whether you drive or book ahead. The weather was nice, so walking there was pleasant too.

Inside Raviok: a quiet wood-toned hall for a Korean BBQ place

Raviok Yeoksam Main Branch sits inside the Yeoksam Station food alley. It had a bit of a standalone-house feel. It's tucked into the alley and the sign isn't huge, so if you get lost easily, watch out, haha.

Interior of Raviok with a calm, quiet atmosphere

Raviok is calmer than the typical BBQ restaurant. The wood-tone interior gives it an overall warm feel, and it's not overly formal, so it's comfortable to eat in. That makes it good for a two-person meal, and it'd also suit a get-together with friends or coworkers. BBQ places tend to be loud, but Raviok was a place where you could actually talk while eating.

Window-side table at Raviok assigned for the reservation

Since we'd reserved ahead, we were seated at a window table. Best of all, for a BBQ restaurant it wasn't loud at all — I really liked that. We could talk quietly and still hear each other fine.

Raviok menu and what we ordered

Raviok is centered on LA galbi. Signature items include ravi roast, ravi marinated roast, and snow-flake beef short rib roast, plus meal options like an LA galbi set, rice bowls, and LA galbi gomtang. The grilled dishes come pre-seared and are then finished at the table, so you don't have to keep grilling it yourself — good for talking through the meal.

The food here is famous for being good, so we ordered basically everything we wanted, haha.

Even the basic side dishes came out neat and tidy — very satisfying. That healthy home-style Korean feeling. It's the kind of restaurant that makes you feel taken care of. 🤍

Snow-flake beef short rib roast. The visuals, though.......🤗🤤

Snow-flake galbi being pre-seared in the kitchen

After ordering, I noticed through into the kitchen that they pre-sear the meat before bringing it out to us. Apparently the snow-flake beef short rib roast uses only the flesh from ribs 6, 7, and 8 of the beef, trimmed and aged for over 28 days using Raviok's own method, which is said to give it that juicy flavor. Meat with a lot of care put into it...!😎

Staff grilling at the table and the white wine fire show

The single best thing about Raviok as a Yeoksam BBQ restaurant: a staff member grills the meat for you directly. You don't have to worry about grilling it well yourself — they cook it deliciously right there, which is so convenient. And on top of that, they put on a fire show.🔥🔥🔥

First they pour white wine over the meat so it catches fire nicely. Such a wild fire show, haha... we just zoned out watching the whole flashy performance.

They do this kind of performance right over the meat, which isn't common at all.🔥 Total dopamine hit...

Flames rising from the tableside grill at Raviok

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and a fire show on top of it — the best... My friend was also amazed watching it. 👍 It was so good that we both dropped any sense of composure and just dug in like fools, haha.

Grilled galbi finished with seasoning

Crisp outside, tender inside, grilled perfectly golden. They finished it off with seasoning at the end. It wasn't overly seasoned — just a subtle hint. The meat was soft and full of juice, really delicious. If you prefer the clean natural flavor of meat over heavily seasoned dishes, I'd recommend the snow-flake beef short rib roast.

★★★★★ With a fire show performance on top, if you want to eat good food and make memories with someone special, save this place. ★★★★★

A piece of galbi picked up with chopsticks

No gamey smell at all, just that fleeting smoky char and juiciness. The meat melts in your mouth...

Doenjang jjigae and truffle steamed egg at Raviok

Solo doenjang jjigae and rice at Raviok

We ordered doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) to eat with rice. It's a side menu item, but it was spicy and delicious, haha. It paired really well with the meat. Honestly you could finish a whole bowl of rice with just this.

Samdae Jinmi truffle steamed egg

And the truffle steamed egg was way better than I expected! I heard it's Raviok's specialty dish, and I could tell why it's popular. There's a subtle truffle aroma and a soft, pudding-like texture. My friend, who isn't even that into truffle, raved about it. Definitely try this one!

Close-up of the truffle steamed egg topped with diced shiitake mushroom

For reference, I mistook the mushroom on top for truffle mushroom, but it's actually finely diced shiitake mushroom with truffle oil mixed in. Makes sense — real truffle couldn't be diced up that generously, ha... The truffle steamed egg was so good. Definitely try it!

Jebudo clam kalguksu, 8,000 won

Jebudo clam kalguksu made with galbi broth

My friend saw reviews on the way there calling this a kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) spot and got curious enough to order it. Kalguksu at a BBQ restaurant felt a bit odd, but we both love kalguksu so we went for it. Raviok's Jebudo clam kalguksu is apparently made with the restaurant's own special galbi broth plus clams from Jebudo. Maybe that's why the broth had a spicy kick and the clams had real depth of flavor. Surprising that a BBQ restaurant's kalguksu could be this good. I'd come back just for this alone. Recommended!

Is Raviok Yeoksam good for a date or a group dinner?

Dining table at Raviok set for a date or group meal

When picking a date spot, atmosphere matters as much as the food. Raviok isn't too casual but also isn't too formal, which made it a solid choice for a date dinner. It's easy to talk while eating meat, and the whole experience lets you focus on the meal itself. It felt less like a special-occasion-only place and more like somewhere you'd go for a relaxed weeknight dinner and conversation.

It's also a good option for friend gatherings or work dinners. The menu is easy to order and share among a group, and there are meal dishes too, so it's simple to round out the meat with something else. If you're meeting someone near Yeoksam Station, the location is convenient, making it a solid choice for either a date or a group meal.

Raviok is a Yeoksam Station restaurant that's good for eating meat in a clean, polished setting. Beyond the food, the atmosphere works well for dates, friend gatherings, or work dinners alike. It's especially convenient that you don't have to keep grilling the meat yourself, so if you're planning a meal where you want to focus on conversation, this fits the bill. Friendly staff, good atmosphere, and delicious food — a classy Korean BBQ restaurant near Yeoksam Station. If you're looking for a Korean BBQ spot around Gangnam or Yeoksam, I'd recommend it.🖤
