Mapo burger restaurant with unlimited soda refills: Bored & Hungry

Today I went to Bored & Hungry Mapo, a burger restaurant famous for its taste along the Gyeongui Line Forest Park. It's located in the forest park between Daeheung and Gongdeok, so it was perfect for a day like this when the weather's great for walking. This Daeheung Station burger favorite works either way — eat well then stroll through the forest park, or get hungry mid-walk and duck in haha.

Best of all, even though it's a handmade burger place, the prices were better than expected and the portions were generous, so I was really satisfied.

Where is Bored & Hungry Mapo? Location, parking and hours

Bored & Hungry Mapo is a 5-minute walk from Daeheung Station, right on the Gyeongui Line Forest Park. For parking, you can use the Sinsu roadside public parking lot or the Hana Technovil parking lot — ₩150 for the first 5 minutes, then ₩1,800 per additional 60 minutes.

There are lots of cafés nearby too, so it's a great course — eat, hit a café, then take a walk :)

There's a separate QR code for takeout orders set up right at the store entrance. If you're packing your food to go, check the QR at the entrance!

Unlimited soda refills at the self-serve bar

Let's take a look at the self-bar too. If you ordered a soda, you grab it yourself from the soda dispenser here. There were several kinds, so you could pick whatever you liked.

And here's what I liked — the soda is unlimited refill :) A glass disappears fast while you're eating a burger, so it was great being able to grab more whenever I wanted.

The self-bar isn't just drinks — there are plates, wet wipes, ketchup, knives and forks, and other things you might need while eating. If you need something, just grab it here.

What two people ordered at Bored & Hungry Mapo, and the prices

At Bored & Hungry Mapo, my friend and I ordered the O.G Champion Burger (₩11,900), the Shrimp O.G (₩12,400), two sodas (₩3,000 each), a corn salad (₩2,900), and fries (₩3,000). The menu had so many options that it took us a while to decide.

One burger each plus two sides between us haha. In particular, the O.G Champion Burger was apparently selected as the 'Best Burger' on Good Morning America in 2022, so I figured I had to try it.

And finally, the burgers arrived! The table was packed... two burgers plus fries and corn salad made for quite the spread haha.

O.G Champion Burger, 11,900 won: jalapeño or pickle?

The O.G Champion Burger! FYI, this menu item lets you choose between jalapeño and pickle. Me — I'm a cucumber-hater, so no need to think twice, jalapeño lol.

But isn't the filling seriously generous? I picked it up to take a photo and the burger itself was pretty heavy. Sometimes handmade burgers look huge in photos but turn out kind of underwhelming (?) in real life — this had none of that vibe.

The patty in particular is the real deal. Take a bite and the juice really does drip down... a thick, juicy patty plus jalapeños made every bite feel packed with ingredients.

Shrimp O.G, 12,400 won: a thick shrimp patty

And here's the Shrimp O.G my friend ordered! When you hear 'shrimp burger,' you might picture a thin shrimp patty, but this one looked different from the start.

Not some flimsy patty at all — a thick patty packed with shrimp! My friend said it was delicious too. The regular O.G nails the beef patty and the shrimp one has a thick shrimp patty... good call ordering one of each between us haha.

Fries 3,000 won and corn salad 2,900 won: how big are the portions?

We picked at the fries in between bites of burger too. A burger without fries always feels a little lacking, right lol. And at ₩3,000, it was an easy add-on.

And the corn salad surprised me. It's ₩2,900, so I assumed it'd come in a small side dish. But it arrived in what was basically a big rice bowl, piled high lol. Looking at the portion, I was thinking, isn't this a ₩5,000 item...? More than enough for two people to share as a side! Alternating between burger, fries, and corn salad made for a great combo.

Is Bored & Hungry Mapo good value for money?

Having eaten everything, you can see why I felt it was such good value haha. The handmade burger patty is thick, the fillings are generous, the side prices are reasonable, and the portions are quite ample. Handmade burgers have gotten pretty pricey these days, so getting this quality at this price was personally satisfying!

After we finished eating, I wandered the space a bit... the food was great, but the place itself was styled with such a good eye that my gaze kept catching on little details.

True to its reputation as a Daeheung Station burger favorite, Bored & Hungry Mapo delivered on taste, portion, and price more than expected. The O.G Champion Burger had a thick, juicy patty, and the Shrimp O.G had an equally thick patty loaded with real shrimp — good call ordering one of each between the two of us.
