Dongtan cockle jjamppong takeout reheated at home: Bultina
In short
Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch is a cockle jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) specialty Chinese restaurant at Namgwangjang square in Dongtan, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. On this visit the writer ate a jumbo jajangmyeon in the dining room and took a level 1 cockle jjamppong home, simmering it once more in a pot, which made the broth richer and let it double as jjamppong rice with a scoop of rice stirred in. For anyone spice-shy, level 1 at Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong is the right call.

Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong near Dongtan's Namgwangjang square is a place I've already visited quite a few times. I first went because I was curious about jjamppong with cockles in it, and it turned out to suit my taste more than expected, so now I find myself coming back whenever I'm craving jjamppong.
Where is Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch, and where do you park?

Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch sits near Dongtan's Namgwangjang square, and there's a public parking lot right in front, so it's easy to visit by car too. I've seen a lot of other reviews mention how convenient the parking is, and plenty of people also say the interior is spacious with decent gaps between tables, making it comfortable whether you're eating alone or with the whole family haha.
Inside seating at Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong: is it okay with a baby?
Once you step inside, the space is bigger than you'd expect and the seating feels roomy. The tables aren't crammed together, so you don't feel squeezed next to your neighbors, and it's a comfortable spot even for a group. It's mostly table seating, which works well for families, and there are also seats set aside specifically for solo diners.
Overall it's neat and tidy, so even if you just came in for a quick bowl of jjamppong or jajangmyeon, it's the kind of atmosphere where you can relax and take your time. I personally pay a lot of attention to seat spacing when eating out with a baby, and since the tables here aren't cramped, it looked like a fine spot to bring a stroller or dine as a family.

This time, after a while, I had jajangmyeon in the dining room and took the jjamppong home to eat there. Since it's summer, it looks like they've added a new cold jjamppong. I've barely paid it any attention since I basically only ever order jjamppong or jajangmyeon haha. Their tangsuyuk is also super crispy and tasty.
How does the jumbo jajangmyeon taste?

The jajangmyeon at Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong feels like it's got finely diced ingredients, closer to a yunjijang (fine-diced black bean noodle) style, so it's smooth and easy to eat overall, with a nicely sweet and savory flavor — reliably good.

The jajangmyeon itself isn't super bold in flavor, more the kind everyone can eat comfortably, so it's also good to order alongside jjamppong and share. Kids would eat this happily too if you brought them along.

Red pepper flakes are a must haha. Pile them on and slurp away. A bite of jajangmyeon when you're starving — nothing more to say...😅
Level 1 cockle jjamppong taken home and simmered in a pot

The jjamppong is delicious eaten fresh in the dining room too, but this time I wanted to try it at home, so I got it to go. I put the takeout jjamppong in a pot and simmered it once more, and eating it comfortably at home actually let me savor the broth more slowly, which was nice. After the noodles, I even mixed in leftover rice at home to make jjamppong rice, which was great too, hehe.

Which spice level should you order at Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong?
You can choose the spice level of the cockle jjamppong, and the difference between levels is definitely noticeable! I ordered the basic level 1. Last time I tried to be tough and went for level 2, and it was way too spicy and rough going — if you're spice-shy, level 1 will satisfy you.
Tasting the broth first, it's a nicely hearty, spicy style, but it doesn't come across as spicy just for the sake of being spicy — it's rich and deep, which makes it seriously delicious.

How much cockle and seafood is in the bowl?
There's plenty of cockles, shelled clams, and meat packed in. After bringing it home and simmering it once more, the broth felt even richer. With cockles, meat, and vegetables all mixed in, the toppings are quite generous, and there's real fun in picking out cockles while you eat the noodles.

Is Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong worth going back to?
If you're near Dongtan's Namgwangjang square and craving jjamppong or Chinese food, I highly recommend Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch. I come here so often that whenever I crave jjamppong next, I'll probably end up back here again.
