Yeonnam-dong restaurant lunch: shrimp roll fries at Ttasijia Yeonnam

Ever since I traveled to Singapore last summer, I've often found myself craving the food I ate there. There was this one shrimp noodle dish I absolutely loved, and while looking for something similar, I found great news — a restaurant famous for that exact shrimp noodle dish had opened in Yeonnam-dong! 👀

I happened to have plans near Hongdae, so it seemed like the perfect chance to satisfy my Singaporean food craving. I went to Ttasijia Yeonnam, a restaurant in Yeonnam-dong near Hongdae. 😃 I was curious whether it would taste anything like what I had in Singapore!

What kind of restaurant is Ttasijia Yeonnam?

According to the sign out front, Ttasijia Yeonnam is the first official Korean branch of Ta Sijia, a Singaporean restaurant that's made the Michelin Guide four years running. This was the very place I'd seen on Sung Si-kyung's YouTube channel!

Getting to revisit a place I'd loved in Singapore, but now in Yeonnam-dong, felt oddly exciting — I was looking forward to tasting a piece of Singapore right here.

The entrance alone was grand and exotic. There was even a Merlion statue, the same one I saw in person last year, which brought back a flood of memories — it really felt like being back in Singapore.

Ttasijia Yeonnam location and opening hours

Ttasijia Yeonnam is located at 13-1 Donggyo-ro 38-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, 1st floor, tucked into a Yeonnam-dong alley. It's open daily from 11:30 to 22:00, with a break time from 15:00 to 17:00.

You can walk there from Exit 3 of Hongik University Station, and if you're driving, there's public street parking nearby.

This Yeonnam-dong lunch spot has really atmospheric outdoor tables, perfect for dining outside in this cooler weather.

Inside Ttasijia Yeonnam: atmosphere and seating

The moment I walked in, the vibe was even hipper and more exotic than I expected — I wondered if I was really still in Yeonnam-dong! 😆 When hunting for good restaurants here, atmosphere matters just as much as the food, and Ttasijia Yeonnam nailed that travel feeling from the second I stepped inside.

The tables were spaced generously, so even during busy hours it didn't feel cramped. There was also a more private group seating area, and an attic loft upstairs.

Colorful little decorations were scattered throughout, fun to look at, and the big windows opened onto a lush green view that made the whole space feel fresher and prettier 🌱. Thanks to that, eating there felt less like a regular meal and more like stumbling into a local favorite while traveling.

Not just the food but the whole vibe made me feel like I was back in Singapore ☺️. Between the atmosphere and the approachable menu, I think this is a great pick for anyone looking for lunch in Yeonnam-dong ☺️.

Ttasijia Yeonnam menu and how to order at the table kiosk

Ordering was easy through the kiosk at each table. Ta Sijia is famous for its shrimp noodles, and both the shrimp noodles and guobaorou had great reviews.

There was also a section called 'Hawker Bites,' selling bite-sized dishes like the ones you'd find at a Singaporean hawker center.

100% cold-pressed apple juice

We also tried the 100% apple juice, which apparently everyone orders at Ta Sijia's original Singapore location 🍏. Just visually, it had that same exotic touch, making the whole spread look even more appetizing 😍. One sip in, it tasted like green apple — tart with a subtle sweetness, keeping that fresh, crisp apple flavor alive.

A sip between bites cleared the palate completely, making it a great match for richer dishes. Between the food and the drink, both true to Singaporean flavor, Ttasijia Yeonnam really did feel like a trip abroad 🍏.

Black vinegar guobaorou (sweet-and-sour fried pork)

True to its name, the black vinegar sauce on the guobaorou (sweet and sour pork) had a sharp tangy kick, with a deeper, richer flavor than the usual guobaorou sauce. That tanginess cut through the richness, making it easy to pair with other dishes.

If you usually prefer a tangy, flavorful sauce over the sweeter version of guobaorou, this one's worth trying.

Shrimp noodles at Ttasijia Yeonnam

I finally got to try the shrimp noodles I'd been looking forward to 🍜. The portion was huge! The broth was deep and rich enough to enjoy plain, but adding a bit of chili oil or sambal sauce brought a spicy kick that made it even better 🌶️.

It was loaded with plump shrimp, cabbage, and pork, so just one bowl was really filling. Generous and satisfying — a perfect Yeonnam-dong lunch pick!

Why the shrimp roll fries with lemon cream sauce were the highlight

I'd personally recommend ordering the shrimp roll fries at Ttasijia Yeonnam! From the photos I expected something heavy like mianbaoxia (deep-fried shrimp toast), but it turned out much lighter and crispier than I imagined — a great side dish.

The plump, springy shrimp combined with a crispy batter made for a fun bite. And the lemon cream sauce was genuinely delicious! 🍋 The tangy, smooth cream sauce paired so well with the shrimp roll that I kept reaching for more.

It also went nicely alongside the shrimp noodles, so if you're visiting Ttasijia Yeonnam, I'd recommend ordering this one too ☺️.

Is Ttasijia Yeonnam good for lunch or a group meal in Yeonnam-dong?

At Ttasijia Yeonnam, I got to relive memories from my Singapore trip last year while enjoying a happy afternoon in a great atmosphere. It seems like a solid choice not just for a date but also for group gatherings in Yeonnam-dong.

Being able to enjoy authentic Singaporean food, still rare in Korea, was part of the appeal too. If you're after something exotic and a bit different, I'd recommend Ttasijia Yeonnam. I'm already curious about the shrimp gukbap and chili crab I didn't get to try this time, so I'd love to come back soon.
