A charcoal BBQ spot where staff grill the meat for you

Udontan's name means a place where meat meets charcoal, and here you get delicious meat grilled over charcoal fire. What's more, the staff grill every piece for you, so there's no hassle of grilling it yourself — you just sit back and enjoy.

Udontan's menu — start with a set if it's your first visit

Udontan's main menu items are usets (prime beef ribs), mokssal (pork neck), and samgyeop (pork belly), and if it's your first time ordering here, I'd recommend going with one of the set menus.

If you're still hungry or want more, you can add side dishes or à la carte items. I ordered Udontan's signature aged usets set today, choosing usets plus a stew — I went with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) rather than kimchi jjigae. I've already had plenty of mokssal and samgyeop, but I don't often get the chance to eat usets compared to pork, so I picked the usets set.

Side dishes and sauce spread

As soon as I ordered at this popular Korean BBQ spot near Dasan Station, the side dishes came out — salad, kimchi, and namul (seasoned vegetables) — along with sauces prepared to dip the beautifully grilled meat into.

Then came today's star, the usets, this Dasan-dong favorite — and it wasn't just the meat, but mushrooms, kkwari peppers, and potato to grill alongside it. The staff immediately started grilling the delicious usets on the grill pan. It looked amazing even before I tasted it! I'd definitely recommend Udontan as a date-night spot for couples.

A doenjang jjigae packed with hearty ingredients

Along with the meat came the doenjang jjigae, loaded with tofu, zucchini, and bits of meat. It was so good I couldn't just eat it plain, so I ordered an extra bowl of rice.

As the usets browned nicely on the grill, the staff moved the fully cooked pieces to one side for us.

They told us that anything placed on that side of the grill was fully cooked and ready to eat right away.

My first usets, and comparing the four sauces

This was my first time trying usets, and true to being beef ribs, it was incredibly tender — it practically melted the moment it hit my mouth. It's beef, but it had a completely different feel from regular beef, and somehow even more delicious.

Dipping it into salt, cumin (jjeoran), ssamjang, and garlic sauce in turn let me taste this Dasan Station favorite's usets from every angle, so if you haven't tried usets yet — or already love it — you have to try it at Udontan Dasan Main Branch!

Who is this place good for?

They even grilled the vegetables for us, so I got to enjoy them together with the meat, and I also wrapped bites with the ssam greens from the side dishes. It was a great meal at Udontan, with a nice atmosphere too — I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a good restaurant or date spot near Dasan Station, or a place for a family gathering or meetup with friends.
