Namyangju hanok restaurant, doenjang salmon steak: Romaok Riverside
In short
Romaok Riverside is a hanok Italian restaurant in Mieumnaru, Namyangju, Gyeonggi, looking out over the Paldang stretch of the Han River. Chefs who trained at two-Michelin-star kitchens in Italy make the Napoli mare pomodoro pasta and a balsamic-glazed salmon steak built on a doenjang (fermented soybean paste) sauce, and every table starts with green onion focaccia baked in house; the space is also rented out for outdoor weddings and dol (first birthday) parties. Romaok Riverside was worth the trip for the river view, but the food is the reason to go back.

I was looking for a restaurant with a Han River view near Paldang and ended up at Romaok Riverside, a spot in Namyangju's Mieumnaru area.
True to its name, it's a place where the quiet atmosphere of a hanok (traditional Korean house) meets Italian sensibility, and I fell for the mood the moment I walked in.
A garden overlooking the Han River blends with the hanok, making it a great fit for dates, family gatherings, or anniversaries.
The food is made by chefs who trained at Michelin two-star restaurants in Italy, so genuinely everything on the menu was delicious!

What the hanok dining room in Mieumnaru feels like

For parking, use the Han River Citizen's Park lot. The first hour is free, and after that it's only ₩200 per 10 minutes — very cheap!

Romaok Riverside's biggest draw is the combination of the Han River view and the hanok setting.

The vibe is so different from a typical Italian restaurant that the meal itself felt like a course experience. The Paldang Han River view out the window is gorgeous, and the outdoor area is nicely decorated too, so it's a great spot for photos.
Can you rent Romaok Riverside for an outdoor wedding or dol party?

Romaok Riverside is an Italian restaurant that also takes venue bookings. If I ever get married again... haha, the space is pretty enough that I'd genuinely want to do it here.

With the Han River and the hanok as a backdrop, it's an ideal place for a special occasion. Thanks to the hanok's calm atmosphere it's lovely in the daytime, but I imagine it comes alive even more at sunset.
Romaok Riverside menu and the free green onion focaccia

The food at Romaok Riverside is an Italian-Korean fusion, so it's not your usual menu, which makes it more memorable. Because chefs formerly at Michelin two-star restaurants in Italy are behind it, every single dish felt fully realized.

The pre-meal green onion focaccia is baked in house too, so it comes out completely warm and moist — it practically melts even with just a dip in olive oil.
What to order at Romaok Riverside: pomodoro pasta and doenjang salmon steak

There's a wide range of menu options, so it's great for a group to visit and share several dishes. My picks are the Napoli mare pomodoro pasta and the balsamic-glazed salmon steak.

The salmon steak pairs the fish with a doenjang (fermented soybean paste)-based sauce, which sounds like an unusual combination but works surprisingly well — a must-try if you come to Romaok.
Beyond that, the maesaengi (seaweed) scallop risotto should suit adult palates well. Kids love the mushroom cream risotto for children and the gorgonzola pizza! The tenderloin steak paired with wine is also really good!
If you book through Naver Place, you can also use a coupon for the early dinner children's mushroom cream risotto! It's tasty enough that even picky-eating kids will finish the whole bowl!

One tip: given the nature of Italian cooking, the seasoning can taste a bit strong overall, but you can ask them to adjust it when ordering — worth mentioning in advance if you usually prefer things milder.

If you're looking for a restaurant with a Paldang Han River view, Romaok Riverside isn't just about atmosphere — the food has its own character too. Italian-Korean fusion cooking by Michelin-trained chefs, served in a hanok, plus house-baked green onion focaccia. I came for the river view but now want to come back for the food — this Namyangju Mieumnaru restaurant is one that will stay with me.
