Uijeongbu beef BBQ with neukgansal on jjagyechi: Supsok Oki Jip
In short
Supsok Oki Jip Uijeongbu Station Main Branch (숲속 옥이집 의정부역 본점) is a Korean beef BBQ restaurant right outside Exit 3 of Uijeongbu Station in Gyeonggi that also serves soups and stews. The visit included 2 servings of Emperor neukgansal (beef rib finger meat, 16,000 won per serving), the 10,000 won set add-on of tripe hot pot and curry soup, and jjagyechi (instant black bean noodles mixed with egg and cheese, 5,000 won), eaten with a piece of neukgansal on top. Verdict: the spicy tripe hot pot cuts the richness of the beef, making Supsok Oki Jip a good Uijeongbu date spot for two.

Hi, it's Airi, the FIRE-lifestyle blogger, back from a date in Uijeongbu. Here's my review of Supsok Oki Jip Uijeongbu Station Main Branch (숲속 옥이집). I heard there's a place in front of Uijeongbu Station where you can enjoy beef and soup dishes together, so I went to check it out.

It's a place where you get beef, tripe hot pot and curry all in one go.
Location and hours of Supsok Oki Jip Uijeongbu Station Main Branch
Supsok Oki Jip Uijeongbu Station Main Branch is at 20 Sinheung-ro 258beon-gil, Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi, on the 1st and 2nd floors. It's open Monday to Sunday, 16:00–23:30, with last order at 22:30.

It was convenient: you walk out of Uijeongbu Station Exit 3 and you're basically there. The quirky interior, matching the restaurant's name, caught my eye from far away.
What's the interior like?
Supsok Oki Jip stands for Soup & Beef House. "Supsok" plays on Soup (soup dishes), and "Oki Jip" is the beef house part.

It felt like visiting a cabin deep in the forests of Gangwon-do. The interior is cozy and full of atmosphere, so you can eat in peace and quiet.

There were plenty of tables and seats. With a second floor too, it looked good for group gatherings.

Supsok Oki Jip is famous for serving soup dishes together with top-quality beef, and I was curious what combinations they'd offer.

The good-value set caught my eye. They also have a curated selection of traditional liquors, so try one with your meat.

Ordering 2 servings of Emperor neukgansal + the set, and jjagyechi
I booked through Naver Reservation and arrived at my reserved time.

I ordered 2 servings of Emperor neukgansal and added the set. The set includes the tripe hot pot and curry soup for only ₩10,000, which looked like great value.

Emperor neukgansal has a richer flavor than ordinary beef rib meat. It's tossed in a handmade marinade and grilled over blazing charcoal.

How the Emperor neukgansal and tripe hot pot taste
I liked that the soup, soy sauce dip, kimchi and other basic side dishes came separately as single portions.
The marinade isn't strong; it just complements the deep flavor of the beef. So you can fully taste the clean, chewy texture of the meat.
The tripe hot pot was ready too, and the rich broth with its lively spicy kick was excellent. It was loaded with chewy tripe, which went well with the greasiness from the beef. I also ordered rice and a drink to go with the broth.

I also finished the extra jjagyechi and curry I ordered. I gently mixed the egg and cheese, then topped it with a piece of Emperor neukgansal and ate them together, and it was even tastier.
