Yeongdeungpo Korean restaurant: bossam set for two at Hantiok

On a day my partner and I planned a date around Yeongdeungpo, we were looking for something simple to eat for dinner and ended up at Hantiok, the Lotte Department Store Yeongdeungpo branch. Looking around near Yeongdeungpo Station, I was craving something warm and Korean, like gukbap (rice soup) or guksu (noodle soup). Hantiok is a Korean restaurant centered on Andong guksu and gukbap, and since we wanted to try a bit of everything, we ordered the bossam (boiled pork) set for two.

I chose gukbap, my partner chose Andong guksu! The set came with bossam, dumplings, and the meal itself, so it ended up being a surprisingly filling dinner. And honestly, the owner was so kind that it just put us in a good mood. Here's the review!

Where Hantiok Yeongdeungpo is and when it opens

Hantiok Yeongdeungpo is located on the basement level 1 food avenue of Lotte Department Store Yeongdeungpo branch! It's a convenient spot for a Korean meal without having to travel far if you're on a date or shopping near Yeongdeungpo Station, so we found it easy to visit.

How to walk there from Yeongdeungpo Station

Hantiok Lotte Department Store Yeongdeungpo is right inside the Lotte Department Store you see as soon as you come out Exit 5 of Yeongdeungpo Station!! We came out of the station and walked straight into the mall entrance we saw right away. The restaurant is on basement level 1, Food Avenue, and if you enter from that mall entrance it's on the left-hand line, so we didn't have much trouble finding it!!

Food Avenue! It's a food court gathering all sorts of restaurants, and Hantiok sits toward the back of it! Around there you see a lot of bar-style seating restaurants, but Hantiok, as in the photo above, has proper table seating tucked inside, which felt clean and nice!!

Right at the entrance the menu is displayed so you can see it at a glance, and there's a big menu board right beside it too, so you can check everything before going in, which was nice!!

Inside, the whole place felt clean and calm, with that typical Korean restaurant vibe. Since it's a restaurant in the department store basement, it's not a fully independent large-scale space, but the table spacing and seating layout weren't as cramped as I expected — plenty comfortable for the two of us to sit and eat dinner.

Ordering and payment happen in a separate area in the back, like in the second photo!! What's great here is that once you order, staff bring everything right to your table, and when you leave, there's no separate return tray — you just leave everything on the table and staff clear it all away. So convenient!!

Each table had a menu you could check again, plus water and cups, and the utensils were next to the table, individually wrapped like this — so tidy!! Great first impression from the start~~

There's a range of options, from single dishes to full sets. That day we ordered the bossam set for two, and I chose gukbap while my partner chose Andong guksu. Since it comes with bossam, dumplings, and the meal all together, it seemed like a good pick if you want to try a little of several dishes at once.

The 19,000-won bossam set for two: how much food do you get?

Once you order and sit down, the owner personally brings out each dish one by one. Bossam, side dishes, dumplings, gukbap, and guksu — once it was all laid out, the spread turned out to be quite generous.

At first, the gukbap and guksu bowls that come with the set looked a bit smaller than the single-dish portions, so I wondered if it would be enough. But between the bossam and the dumplings, we both ended up pretty full haha.

Bossam (boiled pork with wraps)

The main dish, bossam, wasn't overly greasy and had just the right moistness. Even the lean meat alone wasn't dry, and the fattier parts went down smoothly when eaten together. Since it's a set, it came with lettuce, various pickled sides, and pickled radish strips — great pairings with the meat, so I was very satisfied! The portion of meat was generous for a set menu too, which I really liked! Highly recommend the set!

King dumplings

The set also comes with two dumplings per person. Since there were two of us, that's four total. They're not small dumplings but proper king-sized ones, so eating even one felt surprisingly filling!! These days a lot of places charge over ₩6,000 for 4 king dumplings, so this felt like great value. My partner likes shrimp dumplings better, so I ended up eating all 4 by myself... haha.

Gukbap (beef rice soup)

I was curious about the gukbap since it's called Andong gukbap, but it turned out to be just a solid, tasty ugeoji (dried radish greens) beef soup — kind of like a haejangguk (hangover soup) vibe! It was mildly spicy with plenty of ingredients, good for a light meal! Not too intense either, so it seemed like something parents would enjoy too haha.

Andong guksu: great broth, noodles a matter of taste

My partner's pick, Andong guksu!! The broth she really liked — rich and savory, genuinely delicious on its own, she said. But the noodles were a bit of a letdown for her.

In her words, they were a bit like overcooked rice noodles — soft and prone to breaking apart. If you usually prefer chewy, springy noodles, this might feel unfamiliar. Aside from that, she was fully satisfied, and the noodle texture is probably just a matter of personal taste haha.

Side dishes: pickled perilla leaves steal the show

The side dishes came in more variety than I expected, and among them, the pickled perilla leaf side dish was especially good. It was seasoned nice and salty, so wrapping a spoonful of warm rice in it was exactly what you'd call a rice thief. The bossam was delicious too, but I kept reaching for the perilla leaves the most haha. If you run out of side dishes, just ask and they'll bring more right away!! haha

It felt like a waste not to post a close-up of the tender bossam we enjoyed so much, nom nom~~

Final verdict: is Hantiok worth it for a Korean meal near Yeongdeungpo Station?

At first, the bossam portion and the meal bowls looked a bit small, so I wasn't sure the set would be filling enough. But once we'd worked through the bossam, side dishes, king dumplings, gukbap, and guksu, we both walked out pretty full.

Rather than sticking to one dish, being able to sample a bit of everything made the ₩19,000 bossam set feel like better value than expected.

If you want a clean, satisfying Korean meal near Yeongdeungpo Station, or a hearty dinner option while out on a date at Lotte Department Store, Hantiok seems worth a visit! Next time I'd like to try the gukbap on its own or one of the other set menus haha.
