Suncheon pork bone soup with free noodle refills: Namdareun Gamjatang
In short
Namdareun Gamjatang Suncheon Jorye branch is a pork bone soup (gamjatang) and hangover soup restaurant on Baegyeon-gil in Wangjo 2-dong, Suncheon, and a place the writer has been a regular at since before it changed locations. On this visit the order was the Namja-tang (Special) at 12,000 won, which comes with extra glass noodles and potato, plus unlimited broth and ramen noodle refills and sujebi (hand-torn dough) noodles. The bones were meaty and the broth was not overly salty, making Namdareun Gamjatang a hot, filling one-person meal.

These days the mornings and evenings are getting chilly, and I keep craving hot soup — so let me introduce a hangover soup spot I've been going to for years! Whenever my mom or I feel a bit under the weather, or just want something hot and filling, this is our go-to place!
This is 'Namdareun Gamjatang' (남다른감자탕), located in Wangjo 2-dong. I've been a regular here since before they moved locations haha.

What Namdareun Gamjatang looks like inside, and the seating
As a well-known gamjatang spot in Suncheon, Namdareun Gamjatang Suncheon Jorye branch already had customers even when I went early. A lot of delivery orders coming in too haha.

The place itself is spacious and pleasant! Great for groups, and also good for eating alone haha.

The menu and ordering: Namja-tang (Special), 12,000 won
At Namdareun Gamjatang Suncheon Jorye branch you order from your seat using a tablet, and if the tablet is tricky, just ask a staff member. They have hot pots and braised bones to share, plus a variety of soups perfect for solo dining!
- Namja-tang
- Tofu kimchi hangover soup
- Beef brisket kimchi hangover soup
- Budae hangover soup, and more
Whatever you order is delicious — I've tried it all haha. On days when you want both gamjatang and budae-jjigae (army stew) at once, try the budae hangover soup — so good!!
Today I ordered the Namja-tang (Special) for ₩12,000, with extra glass noodles and potato added! As a glass noodle lover, I highly recommend it — you get plenty of springy noodles that don't get soggy.

Side dishes and the unlimited noodle refills
Namdareun Gamjatang's basic side dishes are seokbakji (diced radish kimchi), napa cabbage kimchi, seasoned bean sprouts, peppers, and ssamjang. The seokbakji is delicious haha — I always go back for refills!

Anything else you need, you can grab from the self-serve side dish bar! Broth and ramen noodles are unlimited refills, and there's dumpling soup noodles too, so you can eat until you're full~

The kitchen is open-style too, and they always cook and clean neatly, which is reassuring. The kitchen staff always wear hairnets while working!

How did the Namja-tang (Special) taste?
After a short wait, the hot namja-tang comes out bubbling away in an earthenware pot,

What I love most is that the bones are really meaty, with soft, moist meat. Some places have huge bones with barely any meat, or all dry stringy meat, but here they really pick out the meatiest, softest bones!

And the glass noodles and dumpling soup noodles I love so much, piled high ㅠㅠㅠㅠ You know how the dumpling noodles at hangover soup places don't get soggy and stay wonderfully chewy??? So delicious ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

Eating it with glossy white rice — so good~~~ The moment you take a sip of the broth, that chilly, achy feeling just melts away and the day's fatigue disappears,,! Not too salty, not too bland, the seasoning is just right and delicious haha. Usually after soup dishes I end up thirsty and drinking a lot of water, but namja-tang isn't too strongly seasoned, so that doesn't happen!

Is Namdareun Gamjatang worth a return visit?
These days the potatoes are fluffy and plentiful too, making for a really delicious meal. The prices aren't a burden, and it's a hangover soup spot where you can pick from a variety of options depending on your taste! Their braised bones are good too — I'll write another review next time I try it haha.
If you're looking for a good gamjatang or hangover soup spot in Suncheon, definitely visit 'Namdareun Gamjatang' at least once~ I think the secret to staying in business at the same spot for so long is the taste and the service.
