Ttukseom Station steak restaurant for a heatwave date: Brivite
In short
Brivite Seongsu is a Western brunch restaurant with a pink and ivory exterior, tucked in an alley (Sangwon 6-gil, Seongdong-gu) between Ttukseom Station and Seongsu in Seoul. On a heatwave-warning day, the writer and her husband arrived around opening time and shared the Bri Set (66,700 won): Greek yogurt and tomato salad, scallion cream corn gnocchi, and a steak that staff top with a generous pour of aligot cheese at the table. The verdict: the wait at Brivite Seongsu builds after 12, so go early and don't skip the steak.

Brivite, famous as a Ttukseom Station favorite! Of all the places we've visited on Seongsu dates, this one scored highest for satisfaction.

Where is Brivite Seongsu and how do you park?
Brivite Seongsu is in an alley (Sangwon 6-gil, Seongdong-gu) about halfway between Ttukseom Station and Seongsu, and you need to use a public parking lot. We parked at the Ttukseom Yuseoji Public Parking Lot in front of Ttukseom Station and walked a little over 10 minutes to Brivite.
After the rain finally stopped, my husband and I decided to go on a Seongsu date for the first time in a while. Of course a heatwave warning went out that very day, and it was so hot that walking was no joke, so we headed to the nearest good restaurant from where we'd parked ^^ Since Brivite sits in the alley between Ttukseom Station and Seongsu, it's also a great spot for browsing the hot places in both areas before or after eating, which was another reason we went.

As we walked along wondering what was around here, a lovely brunch restaurant with a pink and ivory exterior suddenly appeared ^^

Maybe because of the potted plants around it, it feels like you've traveled somewhere far away, and the mood is perfect for a couple's date, so the first impression was a pass, haha.

How long is the wait at Brivite Seongsu, and when should you go?
A wait starts forming after 12 at Brivite Seongsu, so for a weekend date I recommend arriving before 12. The inside isn't very big, but it has a lovely, cozy feel.
I went before 12, almost right at opening, and there were already lots of people seated, from families with kids to friends and couples.

Guests kept coming in after we sat down, the wait started after 12, and when we left around 1 I was shocked at how many people were waiting outside. If you're visiting Brivite on a weekend Seongsu date, hurry a little and make sure to arrive before 12.

Brivite Seongsu menu and what's in the Brise Set
Brivite Seongsu has a set where you pick two mains, a steak and a pasta, and since it was our first date in a while, we chose the set with steak, haha. I'd heard the pasta is why it became famous as a Ttukseom Station favorite, so I'd planned to order pasta plus one other dish, but once I saw the menu, the set looked like the better deal.

The pastas include scallion cream corn gnocchi, rabbit pasta, fresh-noodle steak pasta and many other unusual options. I saw the couple at the next table order the fresh-noodle pasta, and it looked delicious too.

Sides include pudding, truffle fries, spicy fried eggplant and more.

Brise Set ₩66,700, with a Greek yogurt & tomato salad side
The Brise Set I ordered (₩66,700) lets you choose a steak and a pasta, and comes with a side. For the side, I first picked the Greek yogurt & tomato salad.

With basil, tomato and Greek yogurt, it looks so fresh and bright.

When you eat the sauce made with Greek yogurt and olive oil together with the tomatoes, the freshness bursts in your mouth and gets your appetite going before the meal.

How is the signature scallion cream corn gnocchi?
The scallion cream corn gnocchi, Brivite Seongsu's signature, had a corn flavor that wasn't overpowering and blended with the scallion into an uncommon taste. The sweet corn aroma rising from it smells wonderful from the first whiff.

Potato gnocchi and corn sit on top of the corn and scallion cream.

The thick-cut bacon goes really well with the soft, chewy gnocchi. The corn flavor isn't strong and melds with the scallion, so it's not a common taste, and I was very satisfied.

Brivite's steak topped with aligot cheese
For Brivite Seongsu's steak, a staff member scoops a big spoonful of aligot cheese (a stretchy potato-and-cheese dish) onto the meat right at your table, and I enjoyed it more than I expected that day!

Watching them put the cheese on is fun and fascinating, and with so much cheese piled on it looks great too, perfect for setting the mood on a date ^^ There's so much cheese that you can't even see the meat underneath.

The meat comes not as one big chunk but as about 3 to 4 small pieces. They aren't too thin though, so the texture is good, and the meat is tender, so it went really well with the cheese.

It doesn't taste like meat with regular mozzarella on top; the cheese has a yogurt-like flavor, so it's really smooth and delicious.

The green onion, mushrooms, garlic and other things served with the steak weren't spicy and were so tasty that they were great to eat together.

Dip the fluffy bread in the gnocchi sauce
The bread served alongside had a fluffy texture that tasted like castella (sponge cake) and egg bread, and it was delicious.

It's crisp outside and moist inside, so it's good on its own, but dipping it in the scallion cream corn gnocchi sauce was a great match.

Brivite Seongsu as a Seongsu date spot: looking back
We left Brivite Seongsu after a really satisfying meal on our first Seongsu date in a while ^^ We went because it's close to Ttukseom Station, but it was better than expected, and our good mood stayed up for the whole date. Judging by how many young couples were there besides us, it seems to be already well known as a date restaurant.
- On weekends, arrive before 12, ahead of the wait
- Pick the aligot cheese steak as one of your menu items
- Park at a public lot such as the Ttukseom Yuseoji Public Parking Lot and walk over
