Goyang bakery café: melon yogurt and Häagen-Dazs latte at Baedagol
In short
Baedagol Bakery House is a bakery café with a large garden in Wondang, Deogyang-gu, Goyang, and the first location of the Baedagol brand. Visiting at 5pm with her mother, the writer took a second-floor window seat over the garden and shared melon yogurt, a Häagen-Dazs ice cream latte, tiramisu cake and mocha salt bread, with the automatic doors on the bread display case the biggest surprise. Seats at Baedagol Bakery House are hard to come by, so late afternoon is the time to aim for.

Baedagol Bakery House at 5pm: finally a free seat
I went to Baedagol Bakery House, which is beautiful in every season. I've been here about five times, and every time it's been so packed I couldn't find a seat, so I always ended up taking my order to go.

But today there were actually some seats available. Maybe because it was around 5pm — that time when kids are coming home from school and moms are heading in to make dinner, haha.

The garden at Baedagol Bakery House, the brand's first location
The garden at Baedagol Bakery House is always beautifully kept. Lately I've mostly been going to Baedagol Bakery Forest, but the original first location, Baedagol Bakery House, has its own warmth and coziness 🌸

This big tree and the red fireplace are the highlight of the garden. And even though the hydrangeas have mostly wilted by now, all summer long they were in full bloom and became a local landmark that everyone around here knows about^^

It's still hot enough that you can only sit outside where the sun has gone down, but there were still some guests here and there at the garden parasol tables. Probably escaping how cold the indoor AC was^^

Can you bring kids or a dog to Baedagol Bakery House?
If you walk around the back of the building, there's a small sand play area for kids, and on weekends it fills up with families. Dogs are allowed in the garden too, so it seems like whole families come out together.

Every corner is packed with pretty plants without a single gap, so everywhere you look is green and lush^^
Why the automatic bread-case doors are worth praising
Walk through the cute photo-zone front entrance and the smell of baking bread hits you so hard you can't not eat some, haha. As a bread lover, two pieces is the bare minimum for me haha. Baedagol especially gets my praise every time for how clean the automatic door system on the bread display case is 👍 The second location, Baedagol Forest, has the same automatic door system, so you can really feel the owner's thorough and genuine attitude toward hygiene, which makes me trust the bread and eat a lot of it, haha.

I've been to dozens of bakery cafés, and aside from Baedagol Bakery House and Baedagol Bakery Forest, I've only found this kind of system at exactly one other place. At most bakeries, customers' clothes and hands pass right over the bread, and with all the talking going on, there's probably a lot of spit flying too ㅠㅠ Even as I picked up bread I wanted and bought it, there was always a little nagging discomfort in the back of my mind.

Four things we ate at the 2nd-floor garden-view window
We got a seat by the 2nd-floor window, and even from here, a pretty, wide-open garden view~~

We'd had a light lunch, so my mom and I ordered a good variety of tasty things: tiramisu cake, mocha salt bread, melon yogurt, and a Häagen-Dazs ice cream latte.

Häagen-Dazs ice cream latte: two treats in one cup
The Häagen-Dazs ice cream latte is like an affogato — you pour the espresso shot over the ice cream, and since milk is already mixed in, you scoop up the ice cream first and then drink the iced latte that's left over. You get to enjoy two menu items in one^^

Melon yogurt: the drink that stole the table
The melon yogurt topped with round melon balls. This thing is really a gem~~ Not too sweet, cool melon eaten together with the yogurt, refreshing and cool with a subtle aroma and flavor that felt like it could get addictive~~

Tiramisu cake and mocha salt bread
The tiramisu cake is just... need I say more^^ For the mocha salt bread, we ate every last crumb, so I forgot to even take a picture 🤣

The 2nd-floor partitioned seats are perfect for a date
On the 2nd floor there are three partitioned spaces that look like they used to be rooms. Perfect for couples on a date. Life's short, enjoy it while you're young, haha.
I took another look at it on my way out through the cute entrance. A photo at the photo zone is a must^^

There isn't a single corner here that isn't pretty, with staff who go all out on the bread, coffee, and drinks, and a level of cleanliness thorough enough to be genuinely moving. Baedagol Bakery House in Wondang is a café I always want to recommend to anyone~~~
