Why a hot bowl of soup near Seooreung and the Wondang golf courses?

With the weather getting chillier lately, I kept craving something warm and hearty. Looking for a satisfying soup dish, I visited Gohyangok Eolkeun Sundaeguk Wondang Branch, known as a Seooreung food spot. It's close to Seongsa-dong and Wonheung-dong, as well as Starfield Goyang, IKEA, and Seooreung. There are also golf courses like Hanyang CC, Hanyang Pine CC, and Goyang CC nearby, so it seemed like a good option to stop by before or after a round.

The side dishes came with onions, peppers, yeolmu kimchi (young radish kimchi), somyeon (thin wheat noodles), and kimchi — a good combination to go with the sundae soup.

Side dishes and table seasonings for sundae soup

Each table had shrimp salt, dadegi (spicy chili paste), and perilla seed powder, so I could season the broth to my taste.

How the sundae soup broth tastes: rich yet clean

Sundae soup served in a stone bowl

My order arrived. It came out piping hot in a stone bowl, packed generously with ingredients — it looked really appetizing. The broth was rich yet clean, and delicious.

Sundae soup with dadegi added

Adding dadegi gave it a spicy kick. I also tried adding the somyeon that came with it into the broth, and it went really well together.

The sundae was tasty, and the meat inside was moist and tender too. It also went well with the mumallaengi (dried radish pickle).

Sunsundaeguk: hinoki-steamed bossam with sundae

Sunsundaeguk comes with sundae soup, plus hinoki-steamed bossam and sundae on the side.

Hinoki bossam included in the sunsundaeguk set

The bossam had no unpleasant gamey smell, and overall it was moist and tender. Having bossam along with the sundae soup made for an even more filling meal.

Ice cream sold as a dessert option

They also sell ice cream, which seemed like a nice option for dessert.

I also filmed the dishes and side dishes I ordered at Gohyangok Eolkeun Sundaeguk Wondang Branch.
