Guro, Seoul bar for spicy chicken feet and yuringi: Eulji Pocha

Why did I come all the way to Guro Digital Complex Station~? Delicious bar food matters, of course, but I wanted to make memories by spending time doing this and that with the person I came with, so I visited Eulji Pocha, a popular bar around Gudi Station. Let me share my lively review of hanging out comfortably with a close younger friend over great food and lots of little things to enjoy!

Getting to Eulji Pocha Guro Digital Complex Branch and the atmosphere

Eulji Pocha’s Gudi branch is not far on foot from Guro Digital Complex Station, and even I, someone with no sense of direction, got there without getting lost. The white lettering on the blue sign is especially eye-catching, so it was easy to spot the place as I walked by.

An interior with old-school charm

The second I opened the door, it already felt different from other bars! There was even an old chunky TV, and the whole place was decorated with a retro, romantic vibe.

There were several round tables, with plenty of space between them and quite a lot of seating, so it looked like a decent place for a group visiting a bar near Guro Digital Complex Station. We arrived a little early right at opening, so it was quiet, and the two of us picked the coolest seat.

Claw machines and snacks to enjoy with coins

What made this place popular and different from other bars around Guro Digital Complex was the entertainment. There was an area with the feel of a DJ pocha (Korean pub), plus another space with an old-school mood like Jongno Record, so it was fun just looking around.

Best of all, you can use the coins you receive after ordering to try several things, including a claw machine, so I totally blew mine there? (Meaning I didn’t win a single thing..)

Beyond the claw machine, there were ice cream, cotton candy, and dalgona (honeycomb candy) to enjoy while drinking, which is probably why I saw lots of couples there too. We got 5 coins and wondered how to use them, then gave up on everything else and put them all into the claw machine. It is bad for your mental health.. haha. Once we had efficiently spent our coins, all the food was out, lol. It was secretly so fun that we dropped our bags and started playing before the food arrived, and the wait never felt boring.

Boneless chicken feet in broth and yuringi: the perfect pair

After playing around for a while, we came back to find our two beautifully arranged main dishes. We had gone to a rotating blind date earlier that day, so we were both exhausted and had nothing much to show for it. We were craving something spicy and crispy, and after some thought, this order was absolutely the right choice~!

Spicy, warming boneless chicken feet in broth

We did not add any extra noodles to the boneless chicken feet in broth. The red broth held big pieces of boneless chicken feet, ham, scallions, vegetables, glass noodles, rice cakes, and plenty more, so the portion was generous too! It came fully boiled; we just reduced it a little longer before eating. The broth was spicy and warming, the kind you keep scooping up!

Aren’t the chicken feet huge? At first I thought two were stuck together, but they were simply that big, which I loved. My younger friend has a small appetite, so we could not manage the rice balls too, but the broth was delicious and would go so well with rice.

Bean sprout soup comes as a basic side. After eating spicy chicken feet, taking a spoonful of the bean sprout broth made my mouth feel refreshed each time, and its warming kick was nice. If you have been drinking at Eulji Pocha around Guro Digital Complex, it is the kind of flavor you could enjoy as a hangover cure!

Crispy yuringi topped with Cheongyang chili peppers

Lastly, the yuringi (Chinese-style fried chicken with sauce). Large pieces of fried yuringi came topped generously with finely sliced Cheongyang chili peppers. The coating was crisp while the inside stayed moist, and once the sauce joined in, the savory flavor wrapped itself around my tongue? The food here really is delicious.

When I asked my younger friend, “Should I cut you a little piece?” she said she wanted a big bite, so we ate the fist-sized pieces as they were. The Cheongyang peppers brought a spicy hit now and then, and with a shot of soju—ahhh!

It also came with plenty of cabbage, and a crisp piece of yuringi with crunchy cabbage made a nice combination.

Personally, I am curious about the other menu items too, but that day, the choice of spicy chicken feet in broth and crispy yuringi felt just right.

A bar that is great for eating, playing, and spending time together

The Guro Digital Complex Station bar Eulji Pocha felt less like somewhere to have a drink and some food before leaving, and more like a place to eat, play, and spend time with the person you came with. I especially found the atmosphere more relaxed and fun because, beyond drinking itself, there were things to enjoy in between, such as the claw machine, cotton candy, and ice cream.

If you are looking for a bar around Gudi Station where you can do more than just eat tasty food, this kind of atmosphere could be a good fit. We did not win even one plushie in the end, but including how much we laughed along the way, it was such a fun time! Recommended if you want to chat comfortably over good food and find little things to enjoy in between.
