Nampo-dong bar with sundubu and window seats: Budan Nampo

If you are looking for a Nampo-dong bar with a great atmosphere and delicious food to go with drinks these days, where do you go? I went back to Budan Nampo Branch (부단 남포점), one of my regular Nampo-dong spots, again. 😊

A Nampo-dong Bar with Great Window Seats

Budan, well known as a Nampo-dong hot spot, is on the second floor above Miryang Dwaeji Gukbap. It has a large space and a lovely overall atmosphere, so I often end up here when I want drinks with friends.

One reason I especially like Budan is the window seating! Sitting by the windows feels open rather than stuffy, so whenever I visit, I prefer a window seat if possible. ✨

The venue itself is spacious enough for a group, and its relaxed atmosphere makes it great for chatting with friends over drinks, so I would recommend it to anyone looking for a Nampo-dong bar. I could not get in over the weekend because it was full and the wait was long... but I was still thinking about it, so I went the following Monday!

The Fun of Trying the Menu One by One

Budan has such a varied food menu that it is fun to choose something new each time I go. I have tried quite a few dishes so far, and every single one has been delicious—I cannot remember a miss. 😂 So that day, rather than ordering only my usual dishes, I picked something I had never tried before.

That day's order was Sundubu Dan + Jjapagetti with green onion kimchi! It was my first time trying Sundubu Dan, and it turned out to be a very satisfying choice. 👏 Both dishes came in generous portions, perfect for sharing as food with drinks, and the flavors worked so well together that the drinks went down easily.

Complimentary Toast Bread and Whipped Cream

While waiting for our order, I started with the complimentary toast bread and whipped cream. Dip the bread generously into the cream and it is nutty and sweet—far more delicious than I expected. 😋 It was nice to pick at while we waited. If you like sweet snacks with drinks, I think you would really enjoy this complimentary bite too. It may seem like nothing, but when a bar gives you a little extra service like this, it somehow puts you in a good mood, right? Haha.

What Was Sundubu Dan Like?

The dish we had been waiting for finally arrived: Sundubu Dan! It was my first time ordering it, and it looked seriously abundant from the start. 😍 Sundubu Dan comes with woosamgyeop (thinly sliced beef brisket), sundubu (soft tofu), and Chinese-style noodles, all filling one pot, so it looked appetizing the moment it landed on the table.

I especially like tantanmen, so I am fond of this style of dish—and after trying it, it was exactly my taste. The soft tofu, savory beef brisket, and flavorful sauce came together so well.

My personal favorite part was the Chinese-style noodles! 🍜 The sauce had soaked into them beautifully, so every bite was full of savory depth. If the dish had contained only soft tofu and beef brisket, it might have felt a little lacking, but the generous noodles made it satisfyingly filling.

The pot was generously filled with ingredients, making it ideal to share with friends over drinks, and we could enjoy it slowly while it stayed warm until the end. If you like tantanmen, I recommend trying Sundubu Dan at least once! 👍

The Jjapagetti with Green Onion Kimchi I Always Order at Budan

There is also one dish I make sure to order every time I visit Budan: Jjapagetti with green onion kimchi. 🤎

Just as its name suggests, this dish pairs Jjapagetti with kimchi. Cheese on top of the Jjapagetti adds a nutty richness, and you can eat it with the well-fermented kimchi and green onion kimchi served alongside.

Jjapagetti on its own can feel a little rich, but eating it with kimchi adds spicy, tangy notes that cut right through it. In particular, the combination of Jjapagetti topped with green onion kimchi was such a great match. 😋

You might wonder whether Jjapagetti would go well as food with drinks, but once you try it, it pairs surprisingly well with alcohol and becomes a dish you keep reaching for. That is probably why I have kept ordering it through my many visits to Budan.

Budan Is Great for Sharing Food with a Group

Once again, I had a satisfying meal at Budan, a Nampo-dong bar! Its spacious interior makes it easy to sit back over drinks, and I personally liked the window seats even more for their open feel.

Above all, Budan has such a varied food menu that it is fun to choose one new item on every visit. The Sundubu Dan I tried for the first time was even better than expected, and the Jjapagetti with green onion kimchi that I order every time was just as delicious as always. 😊

It is nice for casual drinks with friends, and also a good place to order several tasty dishes and share them with a group, so I would recommend it to anyone looking for a Nampo-dong bar.
