Nampo-dong karaoke bar date with tendon fish-cake soup: Juju Norae Town

Where Juju Norae Town is in Nampo-dong

It's on the fourth floor of the Busan Jokbal building at the end of Nampo-dong's jokbal alley, near the entrance to the Bupyeong-dong Kkangridan-gil alley. It's close to the station and on the main road rather than tucked into an alley, so it's easy to find. ✔️ A 4-minute walk from Jagalchi Station Exit 3 (by my legs) ✔️ No on-site parking.

Spacious rooms and a clean interior

The interior is so roomy that even the hallways are wide. From group rooms onward, the room sizes vary a little by number.

When you think of a typical karaoke bar, you picture somewhere dark with that distinct beer smell. But Juju Norae Town's interior could give an art gallery a run for its money, and every light fixture is stylish.

The restroom was especially good, honestly. There are separate men's and women's rooms with three stalls, so no waiting around, and everything was cleaned so well—it was comfort itself.

There was even a powder room by the entrance! Lotion, cleanser, even deodorizer. If you're in the talking stage, a mid-date touch-up is essential.

You can take mirror selfies by the “You're pretty” sign, too. This was my Nth visit, so I already have three or four mirror shots in my album lol.

How Room 2 sounded and looked

I came for a date that day and was shown to Room 2. It's for two people, but spacious enough to do circus tumbling. Not one bit of stale bar smell, plus a cool, plush sofa—love it.. A great Nampo-dong bar to visit as a private-room drinking spot even if you aren't singing.

• There are no fewer than four speakers installed.
• The microphone quality is so good you might suddenly think, “Should I go audition?”
• My favorite thing at Juju Norae Town is the wall switch. Each color has a different mode, and the instant you press it, the room turns into a club. You have to try it lol.

Refillable basic bar snacks

All of this is included? And it can be refilled too???

You usually go to a bar for the fun of having a whole spread of basic snacks laid out, right? How did Juju pick out only the things our couple likes? ✔️ All basic side dishes can be refilled. (Ramen is an extra ₩2,000.)

The thoughtful touch of ramen with an egg, and the bungeoppang (fish-shaped pastry) was even custard-filled! With a whole table set like this, you don't need to struggle from second stop to third stop—you could come here straight for round one.

Soju was ₩6,000. It was such a generous spread that we opened the soju before the main dish even arrived.

Ordering from the tablet menu

You can order on a tablet. There are main dishes on a scale that puts most bars to shame, plus all kinds of premium drinks—whisky, vodka, and highballs—so it seems perfect for birthday parties, anniversaries, or work dinners where you can ask someone to buy you a bottle of spirits, right? They also have plenty of drinks like Galbae and Choco Heim. I feel like they're planning to lock us in and never let us leave...

Weekday singing time is unlimited

Unlimited weekday singing time (nobody gets to go home)

✔️ Unlimited time on weekdays. You start with 180 minutes, then more and more time keeps getting added. I think I sang well over two hours.. and left with my voice completely gone. (A restaurant-detecting dog [human] who got absolutely crushed by me on the score.)

Seriously high-level bar-food quality

The tendon fish-cake soup was ₩29,000. Every time I visit Juju Norae Town, I'm impressed by the food quality. Pretty much every dish is generous and upscale.

Can you get a sense of the size of this tendon fish-cake soup? It comes in a huge bowl. It's packed with all kinds of vegetables and radish, making the broth refreshing and pleasantly spicy—the ultimate soju pairing-♡

The solid ingredients were impressive too. Big, chewy beef tendon, fried tofu, lots of different fish cakes with no skimping, and rice cakes as well. Is this level of bar food just GOAT?

This restaurant-detecting dog (human), proudly showing off my higher education, saved the ramen to cook in the fish-cake soup broth. Crack in the egg that comes with the ramen, too.

As befits a proper bar, their “Could we get some ice, please?” ice was on another level. There was ice cream at the counter, but we passed. If you want some, grab one each.

A good spot even if you only come to drink, not sing
