Gwangju Italian restaurant with basil cream pasta: Bueokgan

To shake off a week’s worth of stress and fatigue, we gathered at Bueokgan, a great pasta spot in Sangmu District! Every time I come, I think the same thing: this place is seriously good at Western dishes like pasta and pizza. I’ve tried plenty of other places, but there’s a reason I’m here for the umpteenth time. With its spacious dining room, easy parking, delicious food, and lovely atmosphere, Bueokgan is a Sangmu District brunch spot that’s great for lunch or dinner anytime.

Bueokgan Sangmu Branch is near the large Daiso and Uniqlo stores in Sangmu District, and it has a dedicated parking lot behind the restaurant, so visiting is easy! The interior and exterior are both so pretty that I feel happy every time I come.

A Roman hotel-inspired interior

It’s a European-style restaurant with a Roman hotel concept, so isn’t everything—from the lighting to the tables and sofas—just beautiful?

You can browse the menu and order using the tablet at each table. There were so many tasty options at reasonable prices, from set menus to individual dishes, that I had a really hard time deciding.

From basil cream pasta to truffle pizza

This is what we ordered.

One Bueokgan dish I order every time is this basil pesto cream pasta. It’s packed with things I love, so it’s an automatic order for me.

Still so delicious....................... You have to order it. It’s my number-one pick.

It has nothing but ingredients women love: a poached egg, basil pesto, and cream on top, right?

Then there was the truffle mushroom pizza, loaded with mushrooms, on a tomato sauce base. I come to Bueokgan often, but this was somehow my first time trying this pizza! It looked so delicious.

Next, I’ve been really craving tomato pasta lately, and this seafood tomato pasta is all about that slight kick of spice. It’s incredibly generous with shrimp, Manila clams, and green mussels.

I think we totally nailed today’s order!! The combination of looks and flavor was so good.

You just break the poached egg and mix it well with the basil pesto and cream sauce.

The pasta doneness and the sauce were exactly to my taste.

It was full of seafood flavor, with plenty of sauce too.

So it was great to eat with the noodles.

The truffle mushroom pizza paired chewy dough with tender mushrooms, and the truffle oil aroma really came through. The toppings were piled on to the point of overflowing, and I enjoyed it so much.

I kept thinking, why have I only just tried this?!!! Mushrooms are so delicious lately too, so please order all three dishes I chose!!!

We also ordered the sweet pumpkin pastry soup. Rich, smooth sweet pumpkin soup topped with pastry makes it even more filling, so this is another dish I order every time I visit.

Along with delicious food, it has an atmosphere that makes it easy to enjoy a leisurely meal, so it’s great for dates, get-togethers with friends, family meals, and all sorts of occasions. There are plenty of dishes to enjoy alongside the pasta too, making it fun to choose according to your taste.
