Laptop-friendly café in Hopo, Yangsan: egg tart and latte at Choi

The weather's been so nice lately that I keep wanting to get out, so today my boyfriend and I decided to work outside and went looking for a café. We both work from home, so sometimes we like to get out of the house and work at a café instead — my criteria are

• Large café
• Good view
• Tasty desserts
• Outlets

pretty much this haha. So I looked around and found that Choi Main Branch, a bakery café in Hopo, Yangsan, fit the bill perfectly, so we hopped in the car and went right away.

Where is Choi Main Branch, and what are the hours and parking?

Choi Main Branch is located at 83 Yangsan-daero, Dong-myeon, Yangsan-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, and it's open daily from 9:00 AM to 9:50 PM. Parking is free. It's not a far drive from Busan either, so it was nice to go on a sunny day as a bit of a drive plus work session.

All sorts of info here — you can tell right away this is a bread-lover's spot, right? They said the croissants and other pastry-type breads are especially good here.

How big is the first-floor bakery selection at Choi Main Branch?

As soon as you walk into Choi Main Branch, the first floor is the bakery, so I started by browsing the bread — and there really was such a wide variety.

From basics like croissants and salt bread to sliced bread, pastries, egg tarts, croquettes, sandwiches, and cakes — the variety was endless, so anyone who loves bread would have a blast just looking around. I honestly got a little dizzy from all the choices haha.

And beyond the basic breads, there were plenty of these signature breads too, which looked great as gifts. And a teddy bear lounging on the sofa, haha.

Seriously, so many kinds... it was genuinely hard to pick our bread. Once we picked, we also ordered drinks and headed up to the second floor.

Here's the drink menu! Just so you know, at Choi Main Branch you buy your bakery items and order drinks on the first floor, then pick up the drinks on the second floor café space. It's nice that you don't have to go back down for your drink.

Going up to the second floor of Choi Main Branch, the space was way bigger than I expected — maybe three times what you'd guess from photos? There are plenty of pretty cafés these days, but sometimes parking is a hassle or the seats are cramped when you actually get there. Choi Main Branch felt easy and comfortable all around, from parking to bread variety to spaciousness.

There's also this sleek group seating area, and if you go up one more floor, the rooftop is gorgeous too! With the nice weather lately, I bet having a drink up there would feel amazing.

But since we had the laptop, we set up on the second floor and ate our ordered drinks together with the bread we'd picked downstairs. We got a latte and an Earl Grey (the drink portions were great, by the way).

Oh man... it was pastry on the outside with brownie inside, topped with a berry jam. Pretty to look at and tasted great too. Tangy, nutty, sweet.

But I think I liked the egg tart even more. The egg flavor was really strong and it was quite sweet — I think it would go great with coffee.

The last two were pound cakes (fig/lemon), and since we couldn't finish them, we packed them up as-is to take home. Choi Main Branch has a self-service packing station on the second floor for wrapping leftover bread! There are plastic and paper bags in various sizes, so you can easily pack things up to take with you.

And the review event! They said you get a random bread for participating, and I got red bean bread. I went home and ate it right away as an evening snack that day — the red bean filling wasn't too sweet and had a nice nutty flavor, so I liked it.

We wrapped up with the beautiful sunset rooftop — the Nakdong River and the sunset together were just so pretty. Definitely go up to the rooftop at least once.

I had such a great time that day that I really want to go back. The bread is delicious, the view is great, and the space is huge, so if you're looking for a bakery café around Hopo, Yangsan, or a café to visit while driving around Busan's outskirts, I recommend Choi Main Branch!
