Warm home-cooked food is great, but sometimes you want a table full of carefully made side dishes and a generous serving of freshly cooked stone-pot rice! Today I'm bringing you an honest review from a weekday dinner with my parents at Bomseol Songdo International City — a perfect spot for a family meal or anniversary gathering in Songdo.

Inside Bomseol Songdo: private group seating
The first impression walking into Bomseol Songdo was really pretty! With its clean wood-tone atmosphere and round ceiling lights, it felt like stepping into a stylish, large-scale café.
There's also a private group seating area on one side of the restaurant, making it perfect for family gatherings or company dinners.

Bomseol hanjeongsik menu, prices and ordering rules
The base Bomseol set menu requires an order of 2 or more people, and everyone from elementary-school age up must order one menu each. The menu board lists Bomseol's signature set menus alongside additional mains and drinks.

We ordered the hearty Bomseol Set (₩23,000) for three!
What's at the self-serve corner at Bomseol Songdo?

After ordering, we visited the self-serve corner in the middle of the restaurant, where a variety of fresh wrap greens — lettuce, napa cabbage, perilla leaves, kale, and more — were laid out,

and barley rice along with sesame and perilla oil were also on hand.
Beyond the basic side dishes, the selection was really generous — crispy Chinese-style eggplant fritters, tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), seasoned balloon flower root, and water kimchi.

These eggplant fritters in particular were so crispy and delicious that I went back for seconds — and thirds! — several times during the meal.
The Bomseol Set for three: how the mackerel, crab and bossam tasted

Soon after, the main dishes and basic table setting arrived one after another!

Tomato salad, japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), jellyfish salad, and various namul (seasoned vegetables) — the spread looked like it could rival a royal table. 🫢
First, we scooped out the rice from the freshly cooked stone pot into bowls, then poured hot water into the pot to make savory scorched rice (nurungji).
The grilled mackerel was thick and moist even split three ways!! Dipped lightly in the soy sauce, it had no fishy taste at all and was wonderfully savory. 🖤

The second main, seasoned golden crab, had meat packed into every shell and a spicy-sweet sauce that paired wonderfully with rice.

For me, the tastiest main was the bossam (boiled pork)! It had no off-putting smell and was so tender that wrapped in fresh lettuce and cabbage, it was absolutely delicious.

The cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) was loaded with tofu and beans, making it perfect for mixing right into the rice — a real rice thief. 👍

To finish, we topped the savory scorched rice that had formed during the meal with various namul side dishes,

and rounded off the meal perfectly with a sweet, slow-simmered pumpkin porridge from the self-serve bar — a proper K-dessert finish!
Final verdict: which occasions suit Bomseol Songdo?
Bomseol Songdo has it all — a carefully composed spread of food, an open café-like atmosphere, and friendly service. I'd recommend it for a family meal with parents in Songdo, a group gathering, or an anniversary dinner. 🤍
