Songdo hanjeongsik restaurant with stone pot rice: Bomseol
In short
Bomseol Songdo International City is a hanjeongsik (Korean set-menu) restaurant on Cheomdan-daero in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. On a weekday evening the writer and his wife ordered the Bomseol Han-sang set, which brought seasonal side dishes, stone pot rice, doenjang stew, bossam and grilled mackerel, plus a salad bar that even includes tteokbokki. With wood-toned interiors and wide gaps between tables, Bomseol is a calm Songdo Korean restaurant for couples and family meals.

My wife loves hanjeongsik (Korean set-course meals), so while we were in Songdo I looked up good hanjeongsik spots there and ended up at Bomseol Songdo International City.

Where is Bomseol Songdo International City, and where do you park?
Bomseol Songdo International City is a hanjeongsik restaurant on the 1st floor of Building A, 40 Cheomdan-daero, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. Free parking in the basement lot made it easy to visit by car.

We arrived with my wife on a weekday evening. The exterior was sleek and clean, catching our eye right away, and parking in the basement lot was a breeze.

The entrance to the restaurant was decorated with a lot of cute little touches.

Spotting a Korean Culinary Master's nameplate at the entrance got my hopes up that this would be a genuinely great restaurant.

Inside Bomseol: wood-toned dining room and private room
Inside, Bomseol Songdo International City is done up in wood-toned interiors with soft lighting, and the tables are spaced wide enough that you don't have to worry about the neighboring table. There's a room in the back too, which seems bookable for private gatherings.
The moment we stepped through the entrance, the overall clean, warm wood-toned interior settled our minds right away.
Visiting on a weekday evening, the mood was even more relaxed and quiet, making it the perfect setting to have a cozy conversation over dinner with my wife.
The soft, warm lighting lit up the interior in a way that really showed off the neatness and refinement typical of a Korean restaurant, and the wide, open spacing between tables let us enjoy a comfortable evening without worrying about our surroundings.

What comes with the Bomseol Han-sang set?
We ordered the Bomseol Han-sang. Side dishes made with seasonal ingredients came out one after another, filling the table completely.

After we sat down and ordered, it wasn't long before a parade of neat side dishes began filling the table edge to edge. True to its reputation as a top hanjeongsik spot in Songdo, the restaurant used plenty of fresh seasonal ingredients across a colorful, beautifully arranged spread of dishes — each one plated so neatly that it made my mouth water just looking at it.

Even a single namul (seasoned vegetable) or a bit of kimchi carried deep, hand-crafted care, and overall the seasoning was never heavy-handed or overpowering, letting the natural, clean, savory flavors of the ingredients shine through.

It suited my wife's palate perfectly too — she usually prefers Korean food that's healthy and easy on the stomach — and watching her keep reaching for more with her chopsticks made me feel glad I'd brought her here.

Stone pot rice, sungnyung and doenjang stew
The Bomseol Han-sang comes with freshly made hotpot rice (dolsot-bap). We scooped some rice into a bowl and poured water over it to make sungnyung (scorched rice tea), then paired the doenjang stew and main dishes with it.
The nutty aroma of the piping-hot, freshly made dolsot-bap really got our appetites going. We first scooped some of the warm rice into a bowl, poured in water to make a savory sungnyung, then combined it with the deep, richly simmered doenjang stew and the main dishes — the combination was simply excellent.

The pacing of the dishes and the balance between each side dish were both excellent, and the staff's attentive service — regularly checking whether any side dish needed refilling — made us feel well taken care of throughout the meal.

What's on the salad bar at Bomseol?
Bomseol Songdo International City's salad bar had a wide variety of food laid out, and we could even help ourselves to dishes not on the regular menu, like tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes). The vegetables were fresh and neatly arranged, which made serving ourselves a pleasure just to look at.

The vegetables were so fresh and the arrangement so tidy that serving myself food was genuinely a pleasure for the eyes.

Bossam, seasoned soy sauce and grilled mackerel
The bossam (boiled pork wraps) was clean-tasting and delicious, so once I started wrapping it up I couldn't stop.

The seasoned soy sauce needs no explanation. My wife, who can't stand anything fishy-tasting, kept diving right in, which made me really proud.

Even the mackerel, which she usually avoids at home because of the smell when it's grilled, was cooked so well here that we ate it down to the bones.
Who is this Songdo hanjeongsik restaurant best for?
If you're in Songdo, Incheon and craving a hearty, care-filled Korean set meal that's easy on the stomach, or looking for a good-atmosphere Korean restaurant where you can relax with a partner or family, don't hesitate — I'd definitely recommend visiting Bomseol Songdo International City.

Even without a special occasion, a warm and satisfying weekday dinner with someone you love is enough to bring real comfort and happiness to everyday life — that's what makes this a true Songdo favorite.
