Gajaeul hair salon men's part perm plus down perm: Lian Hair

Hi, this is Nidyu :) My husband's hair had gotten pretty long, so this time we went to get it cleaned up and permed at the same time! We visited Lian Hair Myeongji University Branch 2, a hair salon in Namgajwa-dong.

Lian Hair Myeongji University Branch 2 is on the 2nd floor of a building at 45 Geobukgol-ro, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. The sign was easy to spot from outside, and there was a Lian Hair marker right by the entrance too, so we found it without any trouble. Just walk up the stairs and the salon is right there.

Once inside, the salon was much bigger than I expected! There were several styling stations, and the seats weren't crammed together at all. The whole space felt bright and clean, so it was comfortable to sit through the whole process. By the window there were plants and a sofa, which made the waiting area pleasant too :) The staff were friendly from the moment we walked in and kept checking in carefully throughout the whole service.

Hair condition before the perm and the consultation

Here's what his hair looked like before. It had grown a lot overall, and the sides especially were sticking out and looking a bit heavy. His fringe had also gotten pretty long, so this time we decided to do a men's part perm and a men's down perm together. Before starting, we talked through the look we wanted, and they gave us advice suited to his hair condition.

First step: a men's cut to tidy up the length

First they trimmed the overall length. The sides and back were tidied up neatly, while the top was left with enough length to fall naturally once parted. They kept checking the shape as they went, working through it carefully.

During the service they brought over a cool drink and some light snacks haha. Perms take a while, so having that kind of care made the wait a lot easier.

Looking at the sides after the cut, they're clearly much neater than before. I also liked that the sides weren't left too tight against the head, but blended naturally into the overall style.

How the men's part perm and down perm were done

Next came rolling rods into the top section for the part perm. They worked from the fringe through the top, dividing sections by direction and rolling carefully, checking both sides as they went. If the curl on a men's perm is too strong, it can be hard to style every morning, so we asked for something natural and not overdone!

Once all the rods were in, they moved on to heat processing. The staff kept checking whether he was comfortable the whole time we waited.

After the heat processing, they shampooed his hair and blow-dried it into shape. Even with such a long process, the salon was spacious and comfortable, so it never felt stuffy or tiring.

The finished part perm style

Here's the finished look! The front parts naturally, and the top has nice volume and curl. The sides and back are also neatly tidied up, and comparing it to the before photos, the difference is obvious. It's not so styled that it feels over-done, and it's easy to maintain day to day, so my husband liked it too haha.
