Mapo pizza restaurant for chewy dough: Pizzeria O Hapjeong Station

I often go out for pizza on dates, and this time I visited Pizzeria O Hapjeong Station (핏제리아오 합정역점). We ordered two kinds of pizza and pasta, and more than the toppings, the moist, chewy dough was what I remembered first.

How do you get there from Hapjeong Station, and when is it open?

The restaurant is on the first floor at 14-5 Yanghwa-ro 11-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea, about a five-minute walk from Hapjeong Station Exit 2. According to the original post, it is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., with a break from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Last orders are at 8:30 p.m., and parking is available at nearby paid parking lots.

What were the Saturday lunch wait and seating like?

We made a reservation in advance and visited at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. We were shown straight to our reserved table without waiting, but aside from ours, the restaurant was full and a wait formed soon after. Based on that day, I felt it would be better to reserve ahead for weekend lunch.

All the tables were set for four people at the time of my visit, so the two of us had plenty of room.

High chairs were available as well. It is something to keep in mind when dining with a young child.

What did we order, and how much was it?

There was a wide range of pasta as well as pizza. I do not usually prefer pizzas piled with vegetables, so I chose Quattro Salumi and Patate, with Arrabbiata on the side.

They provided tableware, jalapeños, and pickles as the basic setting.

What did Quattro Salumi taste like?

My favorite dish that day was the Quattro Salumi. It came with four toppings—chorizo, bacon, pepperoni, and sausage—and tasted salty and spicy.

The dough in particular was moist and chewy. I have been to several wood-fired pizza places, but this texture was especially memorable to me. There were generous toppings too, which suited my taste for salty ham.

How were the potato toppings and texture of Patate?

Patate had generous portions of potato wedges, bacon, and corn. It was a familiar combination of ingredients, but I liked its nutty flavor and chew.

The potato wedges on top were moist rather than dry, which made them taste even better.

I think it would suit anyone who likes familiar toppings such as potatoes and corn. I also thought it was a menu item worth considering when visiting with a child.

Did Arrabbiata pair well with the pizza?

When the pizza started to feel rich, Arrabbiata's spicy sauce paired well with it. To me, it had a pleasantly spicy heat. I do not usually prefer short pasta, but I was satisfied with the textures of the two kinds of pasta here.

Eating it with the cheese underneath made the spiciness much milder. I liked the combination of spicy pasta between the salty Quattro Salumi and nutty Patate.

The dough is the biggest reason I would return. Its moist, chewy texture stayed with me, and next time I would like to try a different pizza.
