Korean restaurant in Paju with kodari and cheonggukjang: Eomma-ui Ttuksim
In short
Eomma-ui Ttuksim is a Korean restaurant in Yadang-dong, Paju, where my mother and I had the two-person Ttuksim Bapsang set for dinner. We chose kodari and cheonggukjang alongside tender pork bulgogi and varied side dishes, and the comfortably spaced tables made it easy to take our time talking over the meal.

My mother and I went to Eomma-ui Ttuksim (엄마의뚝심) in Yadang-dong, Paju, for dinner. Wanting a meal with rice and several side dishes, we ordered the two-person Ttuksim Bapsang set. Its neat, home-style spread made it a nice place to share a meal with my mother.

How were the atmosphere and parking for a meal with parents?
The area in front of the restaurant was neatly kept, so it was not difficult to find. Parking was also available, which made it convenient to visit by car.

The interior was clean and comfortable as well. The tables were not placed too closely together, so it seemed suitable for a family meal or for bringing parents. We, too, took our time eating while talking about this and that.

What comes with the Ttuksim Bapsang set?
The Ttuksim Bapsang set came with pork bulgogi, a variety of banchan (Korean side dishes), and a choice of main dish and stew. You could choose either bossam (boiled pork slices) or kodari (semi-dried pollock), and either doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) or cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew).
We chose the kodari and cheonggukjang. Having both meat and fish made it a substantial meal for two. There were many side dishes, too, and as we ate them between bites of bulgogi and kodari, we finished almost the whole spread.

How did the pork bulgogi, kodari, and cheonggukjang taste?
The pork bulgogi was not overly intense in seasoning, and the meat was tender. It went well over warm rice or with the side dishes.

The kodari was well seasoned. I picked the flesh from the bones, lightly coated it in the sauce, and ate it with rice. Adding kodari to the bulgogi made the whole meal feel more generous.
The dish I especially enjoyed was the cheonggukjang. It was savory and warm, and went well with rice. My mother also said the cheonggukjang tasted good, so we both enjoyed it.

Was dinner with my mother satisfying?
I was satisfied that we could take our time over warm rice and several side dishes. I also liked being able to choose kodari and cheonggukjang to suit our tastes. It is a place I think I would remember if I had another occasion to eat with my mother in Yadang.
