Hi, this is Bunmarie. A couple who are close friends of my partner — and whom I know too — are getting married soon, and they threw a wedding invitation gathering for us. Knowing I love Chinese food, they picked the hot new Chinese restaurant near Sinsa Station, Samsin. Perfect spot for this kind of gathering, so what turned out to be the best pick on the menu?

Where is Samsin Garosu-gil, and what are the private rooms like?
Samsin Garosu-gil is a Chinese restaurant on Garosu-gil near Sinsa Station, and even the exterior shows off a flashy sign that makes you feel like you've stepped into China. It had been a while since I visited Garosu-gil — my heart was already fluttering just walking in!

There were hall seats and tables for two, but since we'd booked a room, we were shown to a room. There are rooms of different sizes depending on the occasion, so you can pick comfortably based on your situation.

Samsin really shows its strengths when visiting with a group. From dim sum to noodles, rice, and cooked dishes, the menu is so varied — I recommend ordering a variety and sharing small portions of each!

The eight dishes ordered at Samsin Garosu-gil for a wedding gathering
What we ordered: regular siomai and wedding siomai, jar-style xiaolongbao, tebanaka meat jjamppong, tendon kimchi fried rice, tangsuyuk, ganjjajang, and the cold platter (naengchae). They way over-ordered for us haha..
Cold platter with yukhoe (raw beef) piled in the middle

The cold platter came out first — a parade of fancy ingredients like salmon, abalone, and duck eggs. I normally don't love cold platters, but right in the middle was something I didn't expect at all: my beloved yukhoe (Korean-style raw beef)! It was a bit different from regular yukhoe, but if it's tasty, who cares — I scraped every last bit off the plate with a spoon.
The manager took care of our table that day, explaining exactly how to eat each dish and being so kind that it made the gathering even more enjoyable, aw >,<
Jar tangsuyuk, with sizzling sauce poured at the table

We had a lot of dishes that day, but the one that really won me over was the jar-style tangsuyuk. Samsin near Sinsa Station has a really wide menu, but let's set everything else aside — you have to order the jar tangsuyuk, no question. They pour the sauce straight into the jar at the table,
and as you can see in the sizzling video, it makes a sound and steam bursts up. The chewy texture holds up well, and the sauce is just sweet enough that I kept going back for more, endlessly.
Wedding siomai and the dim sum that suit a wedding gathering

The wedding siomai was recommended to us — and doesn't it look like the perfect fit for a wedding invitation gathering? The texture was really chewy and soft too.
Tebanaka meat jjamppong topped with fried chicken

One of the dishes that best showed off Samsin's fusion style was the tebanaka meat jjamppong. It was a jjamppong with real body from the meat broth and a proper smoky char flavor.

After going through several dishes, one sip of the jjamppong broth cut right through the richness, so you never get sick of eating.
Tendon kimchi fried rice, a Korean-Japanese fusion

The one I was most curious about just from the name was the tendon kimchi fried rice — how do you even combine tendon and kimchi fried rice? But surprisingly, the kimchi fried rice cut through the tempura, which can get a little heavy on its own, and the pairing worked really well.
Yuni-gochu ganjjajang, the dish everyone kept reaching for
True to its name, the yuni-gochu ganjjajang noodles have a bit of chili pepper mixed in. I don't usually eat ganjjajang because it's normally too sweet for my taste, but the chili cut right through that, and paired with the nutty flavor of the chunjang (black bean sauce), it was perfect as a finishing dish.

It's covered in sauce, but true to classic ganjjajang form, there's a fried egg on top too – ☆
Don't skip the review event: mango sorbet to finish

After finishing the meal, we joined the review event too. Write a receipt review and you get a mango ice cream per person. Even as an event freebie, doesn't the presentation look pretty legit? It wasn't an ice cream with a faint hint of mango — the mango flavor was seriously strong, which made a refreshing finish after all that richness.
