Daegu barbecue restaurant near DBG Park: Ttukbang pork neck
In short
Ttukbang is a Korean barbecue restaurant near DBG Park in Goseong-dong, Daegu. I had two portions each of par-grilled pork neck and milk makchang for 12,000 and 11,000 won per portion after a short wait on a packed weeknight. Verdict: a lively choice for tender grilled pork and a satisfying doenjang finish.

Ttukbang, a Goseong-dong barbecue restaurant near DBG Park
I visited a well-known Goseong-dong spot near DBG Park. It is about a 15-minute walk from home, so I walked over after work. The evening weather has been so lovely lately—perfect for a walk, right?

They said the restaurant will help cover parking fees if any come up. My younger sibling thought the fee would not be much, so they just paid it directly. Parking at DBG Park is free after 8 p.m.

A packed atmosphere even on a weeknight
Haha, what was going on? I was surprised as soon as I went in. It was full. Even though it was a weekday, it turned out a workplace group was having a company dinner there. Anyway, there were no empty tables, so we waited about 5 to 10 minutes. It was packed and buzzing. I thought it would be a good option for anyone looking for a company-dinner or family-meal spot in Goseong-dong, too.

There was also a self-service area. It looked like you could take as many side dishes as you needed. We did not use it separately.

Shiitake-wasabi sauce and side dishes
Meat and a bowl of rice are such a good match, right? It had been a while since I had beondegi (silkworm pupae), and they were tasty. I liked the indispensable side dishes for grilled meat, including some of my favorites. In particular, there was a shiitake-wasabi sauce, and it went really well with the meat. I always feel that when wasabi or spicy Cheongyang peppers are involved, their spicy, nose-tingling flavor neatly cuts through the richness of the meat.

Ordering par-grilled pork neck and milk makchang
The charcoal arrived, along with the side dishes. We ordered what seemed to be the signature items: pork neck and makchang (grilled pork large intestine).

Pork neck seems to be the specialty cut here. The pork neck and makchang were both marked as “another world” menu items, so we ordered two of those: pork neck and milk makchang. They come par-grilled, so you can eat quickly.

This was two portions of pork neck and two portions of makchang. Pork neck was ₩12,000 per portion, and makchang was ₩11,000 per portion. Both came par-grilled, and the staff cook the pork neck for you.

And steamed egg arrived, too. Why is steamed egg at restaurants always so delicious? Haha. While waiting for the meat to cook, we shared the steamed egg.

Tender pork neck cooked by the staff
We put the par-grilled pork neck on the grill and cooked it a little more. Maybe because the staff cooked it just right for eating, but the meat was really delicious.

I liked that the pork neck was more tender than expected. It was tasty on its own, but topping it with geotjeori (fresh kimchi salad) or dipping it in the shiitake-wasabi sauce gave it another flavor. Personally, the sharp wasabi kick made the meat taste even cleaner.

Golden-brown makchang and a doenjang finish
And the other menu item of the day was makchang. We ordered two portions. It was ₩11,000 per portion. There was a generous amount, and I liked that the makchang was tender too.

After cooking it until it was nicely golden brown, we dipped it in makchang sauce. This really is the best way to eat makchang. Dip the well-grilled makchang right into the sauce, and the rice cakes were grilled crisp, too. Haha.
We were quite full, but finished neatly with doenjang (fermented soybean paste stew). Ttukbang’s doenjang was ₩4,000. The doenjang here is delicious. It is a little spicy, but there is quite a lot of it, and the flavor is great. I think the tofu, zucchini, and even meat in it make the stew so good. I recommend having the doenjang at this Goseong-dong barbecue restaurant, too.
Seeing that it was full even on a weeknight, it seems to be a barbecue restaurant popular with locals as well. I also liked that the meat comes par-grilled, which cuts down the grilling time. On evenings with lovely weather like these, it is nice to eat and then take a walk around DBG Park.
