Daegu makchang restaurant with free ramen and bingsu: Bongja Makchang

My last makchang meal out before giving birth, found on Daegu's Jongno

You can't leave makchang out when talking about Daegu, right? Today I visited Bongja Makchang Daegu Jongno Branch, right on the trendy Jongno street in Dongseong-ro, haha. This place generously gives you savory, chewy makchang (grilled pork intestine), unlimited cook-your-own ramen, and refreshing patbingsu (shaved ice with sweet red beans) for free, so even on a weekday people just kept coming. Let me tell you about my last makchang mukbang before giving birth, lol.

Bongja Makchang Daegu Jongno Branch: location, hours, and freebies

It's on the first floor at 49-1 Jongno, Jung-gu, Daegu, in the trendy Jongno area near Jungangno and Banwoldang Stations. This is a Daegu makchang favorite I recommend for dates or group dinners.

• Sat–Sun: 16:00–02:00 the next day; last order 00:30
• There is no dedicated parking, so please use a paid lot near the restaurant.
• You can check event information when ordering on the tablet.
• Make a Naver reservation to receive a coupon for soy-sauce pork skin.
• Review event: choose pork skin, a drink, self-serve fried rice, or mango bingsu.
• Self-serve ramen and patbingsu are unlimited and complimentary.

There are sooo many freebies and events, haha.

Choo Sung-hoon, Kim Jong-kook, and Daesung have eaten at Bongja Makchang too, haha. It really is a makchang place celebrities approve of!

A wait even on Thursday evening

Maybe because this Jongno branch is such a hot spot these days, but it was packed with diners even though I visited on a Thursday evening, haha. Customers kept coming in as soon as we got seated, and a wait formed in no time. Dongseong-ro's Jongno really is a happening street lately, lol. Write your name on the waiting list by the entrance and they'll kindly show you to your table in order.

The basic spread and what we ordered

The side dishes included bean sprouts, jaeraegi (seasoned green-onion salad), onion, doenjang, ssamjang, peppers, kimchi, and steamed egg ^^ Such perfect combinations to grill and eat with the meat.

Bongja Fresh Makchang: savory and chewy

Today, it was the signature Bongja Makchang! Bongja Makchang was our whole mission today, haha. Bracken fern, kimchi, rice cakes, bean sprouts, mushrooms, and jaeraegi come with it too, and they're delicious grilled together 😋 Try dipping it in the curry powder too, haha.

It was savory and wonderfully chewy with not a hint of odor, and dipped in the makjang sauce it was just pure deliciousness~ haha. When will I normally be able to eat out again after giving birth? Lol. Knowing this might be my last one made it taste even better... haha.

Hot soybean paste stew and rice

Bongja Makchang has a separate burner beside the grill where you can keep the soybean paste stew warm. The stew is ₩2,000, haha. I had makchang along with rice + steamed egg + soybean paste stew~ So good 👍

Free self-serve ramen, makchang fried rice, and patbingsu

At the self-service bar there are vegetables, plus lots of different packet ramens including Buldak and more—and the ramen is free ^^ We cooked Odongtong ramen, haha. Having spicy ramen after makchang was sooo good, haha.

We had some cider here and there too, haha.

The fried rice is ₩2,000, and we used the review event. If you order fried rice right away afterward, they'll prepare it for you. You fry it yourself on the grill~ It's easy, haha. Pro tip!!! Deliberately leave a little makchang behind, haha. Fry it together after making the rice and it becomes makchang fried rice ^^ I recommend the chewy makchang fried rice, lol!!! 🤤🤤

Patbingsu is unlimited and complimentary. Bongja Makchang gives you bingsu for free, lol. Love it, love it 💕💕 Having a generous bowl of finely shaved ice topped with condensed milk, red beans, and cookies... so refreshing and happy-making, haha. It's perfect for cleansing your palate. I said I was too full and should stop, but why did I keep eating it?? Haha.

Daegu Jongno makchang remembered for its kind ending, too

This popular Jongno branch near Dongseong-ro and Jungangno is in an easy location for meeting up, where you can enjoy tasty, chewy Daegu Bongja Makchang, haha. Especially, the female staff member there today was so sweet! As we left, she sprayed what I think was Febreze because our clothes might smell, and even gave us candy ^^*~ Thank you 💕

I highly recommend this Daegu makchang favorite, where you can generously enjoy an affordable combination of makchang, bracken fern, and grilled vegetables, plus unlimited ramen and patbingsu!!!!!!
