A proper meat meal in Namyeoju
As fall rolled in I was craving a proper meat meal around the Namyeoju area, and after some searching, I zoomed straight here. This place lives up to its name — "Namyeoju Baechu Doenjang-guk Sukseong Gogi-jip" — running both a cabbage doenjang soup restaurant and an aged beef house together. It's a great spot whether you want good hanwoo or just a quick meal before or after golf or shopping.

What impressed me most was that they open at 5:30am! Perfect for whenever you're craving a warm bowl of soup even at that hour. There aren't many places nearby that open this early.

Why it's known as a golf-course-area favorite
Head inside and you'll spot the restaurant, with plenty of parking right out front! There are so many golf courses nearby that this place is famous as a golf-area go-to. Golfers heading to Arge CC, Jayu CC, Namyeoju CC, Solmoro CC, and Geumgang CC often stop here — being so close to the courses makes it a great pick for a meal before or after a round.

They even sell golf balls here!
Before heading out to golf, you can fill up on a hearty but light cabbage doenjang-guk set; after golf, you can wrap up the day grilling aged beef on the iron pan.

Overall the interior is really clean! Restrooms are separated by gender, and there's none of that typical meat-restaurant smell.

Ordering the iron-pan hanwoo sirloin 500g
What we ordered was the iron-pan hanwoo sirloin 500g. Good beef deserves proper grilling, and here staff grill it for you from start to finish, so we got to enjoy the whole meal without lifting a finger.

We arrived early and at first thought we were the only ones there, but as time passed, cars kept pulling in one after another, and the tables filled up fast. Some people were there for a simple doenjang soup meal, others for grilled meat — quite a mix.

Spicy cabbage doenjang soup
This is the famous cabbage doenjang soup — simple-looking but seriously spicy, the kind that just clears everything out.

The soft, well-cooked cabbage had a texture like siraegi (dried radish greens) that melted in my mouth, and even as a doenjang soup it had that spicy kick — the kind of broth that feels like a hangover cure.

Hanwoo sirloin grilled by staff
Just watching the meat sizzle on the iron pan already had my mouth watering.
Sizzling away on the iron pan, cooking up nicely! 🔥🥩

They pre-sear it and trim it all into perfect bite-sized pieces for you.

With hanwoo sirloin, the flavor of the meat itself matters most. One bite in, the juices were still lively and moist, with a savory richness that grew the more I chewed! Grilled on the hot iron plate, the outside came out beautifully seared while the inside kept its tender texture intact!

Finishing with iron-pan ramyeon
Once you've finished the meat on the iron pan, I'd recommend the ramyeon as a palate cleanser.

The endless charm of the iron pan!
They stir-fry vegetables and cook the ramyeon right in it.

They even used tongs to lift the noodles up and down so the springy strands would turn out extra chewy — such a nice touch 🫶😋
They boil the ramyeon with real care!

And the kimchi and pickled radish side dishes were generous too.

Plenty for two people
Today's meal, with the hanwoo sirloin at 500g, was plenty for two of us, and with the extra flavor from the iron pan, it felt like a truly proper meat meal for fall! I'd 200% come back again.
