The weather was getting cooler so I went on a trip to Gyeongju, and something kept popping up on my Instagram algorithm. Persimmon sando on Hwangnidang-gil !!!! I knew it was a hot dessert lately, but I was half-skeptical until I actually tried it. After eating it though, I thought 'ah, this is a must-visit when you come to Gyeongju.' Today I'll honestly share my experience at Tareudang, the dessert spot everyone's talking about on Hwangnidang-gil 😊
Where to park for Tareudang on Hwangnidang-gil
Tareudang doesn't have its own parking lot, so you'll need to use a nearby public parking lot. Parking is always a headache on Hwangnidang-gil, right? It used to be super congested with illegally parked cars, but it's gotten much better since a new public lot opened.
I'd recommend parking for free and walking into Hwangnidang-gil. If you drive your car right into the middle of Hwangnidang-gil, it's so crowded it's not good for your mental health lol 😅
Finding Tareudang and how long the wait is
Tareudang is located right next to a restaurant called Onsen. You can spot the orange exterior from far away, and there was quite a line, so it was easy to find. Since it's takeout-only with fast turnover, the wait wasn't that long.
The gotgam sando wasn't on Tareudang's menu board
Honestly I went specifically to eat gotgam sando (persimmon rice-cracker sandwich), but when I looked at Tareudang's menu board, it only had seasonal fruit mochi and egg tarts listed ???? Gotgam sando was nowhere to be found. 🤔
'Did they sell out? Or did I come to the wrong shop?' I checked the Instagram algorithm again, and I was definitely right that Tareudang only has this one location... So I just waited in line first.
When it was my turn, I showed a photo of the gotgam sando and asked, "Is this not available...?" Thankfully, they said the menu had just launched recently and hadn't been reflected on the board yet. Phew~~ 😮💨 (as of 2026.09.16)

This was the flavor I was most excited for. The dried persimmon itself is sweet, and with the anbeoteo cream added, it was a much sweeter combo than I expected. A proper sugar-rush flavor 🔥
Black sesame gotgam sando
There were even walnuts inside, so it had a nutty note on top and wasn't too sweet — just the right amount of sweetness ‼️ Personally, this was the best of the three. An unexpected favorite, haha 😊
Matcha gotgam sando
A rich green tea aroma came through, and since it wasn't an overly sweet green tea, it paired well with the persimmon 😆 Overall, the chewy, heavy sweetness of the persimmon was balanced nicely by the cream, so I think this would really suit people who love Korean-style desserts. I'd also recommend it as a Chuseok or holiday gift ‼️
Peach yogurt giant fruit mochi on the side 🍑
It felt like a waste to only try the gotgam sando, so I added one of Tareudang's giant mochi too. 💡₩500 off per piece when you buy 4 or more mochi💡
Here's what the seasonal menu looked like when I visited.

I picked the peach yogurt (₩7,000), and it was literally the size of my fist. There's a reason it's called giant mochi 😄 It had real peach flesh packed inside, the outer mochi skin was chewy, and the yogurt cream was soft, so it was fun to eat even with the mess on your hands. It's low-sugar yogurt too, so I could eat it with a little less guilt haha
The cross-section looked pretty too, great for photos, and they say they operate on a same-day made, same-day sold principle — you could really tell in how fresh it tasted ‼️
One honest drawback at Tareudang
Tareudang's prices, at ₩5,000–7,500 per individual piece, are a bit on the higher side for dessert. If you want to try several flavors, the total adds up pretty quickly. That said, considering they keep ingredients like seasonal fruit and dried persimmon fresh through same-day production and sale, and the generous amount of fruit flesh and cream, the price made sense to me 🥹
Why the 6-piece set is a great Gyeongju souvenir 🎁
Tareudang offers nice gift wrapping if you ask. I didn't get it done myself so I don't have photos, but getting the 6-piece set (₩29,000) wrapped to take home would make a really great Gyeongju travel souvenir.
