Seomyeon braised ribs, mayo garlic octopus dip: Sinchon Yangpuni

Sinchon Yangpuni Seomyeon Main Branch (신촌양푼이 서면본점) is a yangpuni galbijjim (braised short ribs in a brass pot) restaurant in Seomyeon, Busan, with a 20-year history and a main building plus an annex. On a weekday evening the main building was full, so the writer ate level 1 galbijjim for 2 with half an octopus and rice balls in the annex, and level 1 wasn't spicy even for someone who can't handle heat. With tender ribs and octopus, Sinchon Yangpuni is an easy braised rib pick in Seomyeon for anyone who avoids spicy food.

Family dinner Korean BBQ in Seomyeon with mild doenjang stew: Anmin

Anmin Busan is a newly opened pork BBQ restaurant on Dongcheon-ro in Seomyeon, Busan, where staff grill fresh pork over a brazier at your table. For a Sunday family dinner booked in advance, we ordered the half-pig set, hwang doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), white rice and Fanta Grape. Staff grilled the thick pork belly and pork neck from start to finish until cooked through, and nearly 15 side dishes and sauces were all high quality. With an upscale feel, private rooms, high chairs and a less-spicy option for the stew, Anmin Busan is a Korean BBQ worth recommending for a family meal in Seomyeon.

Hwangnam Dukkebi Restaurant Hwangnam Main Branch (황남두꺼비식당 황남본점) is a Korean restaurant on Hwangnidan-gil in Gyeongju, known for braised pork back ribs with aged kimchi and the Cheomseongdae 7-dish set. For a Gyeongju trip with a dog, Hwangnam Dukkebi Restaurant is a recommended stop.
