A spacious restaurant for family gatherings near Balsan Station

Today I visited a great pork rib spot near Balsan Station! It is a large Magok restaurant with a vast space of about 200 pyeong that can accommodate more than 100 people!! Let me introduce Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga Magok-Balsan Branch, a perfect pick for a Magok family gathering!

Entrance to Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga

We stepped inside! A pine tree immediately catches your eye as you enter! The interior is classic and upscale, and it really felt like a refined high-end Korean course restaurant. It is peaceful and quiet, with an atmosphere older guests would love, so I can see why it is popular for 70th- and 80th-birthday celebrations and family gatherings!

Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga is such a huge restaurant! There is a main hall as well as separate private rooms. The private rooms are popular, so I think it would be great to reserve one ahead of time. It is just right for an important gathering or a meal with someone special.

The story behind pear marinade and 144-hour cross-aging

The secret behind Ihwajeong Galbi's flavor was on display too〰️ They say the rib marinade uses organic pears, giving it natural sweetness rather than an artificial sugary sweetness. Their rib-making method is even patented 😱 With patented 144-hour cross-aging, they say they soften the texture of both beef and pork ribs while bringing out the savoriness of the meat. This place was seriously amazing✨✨

Let me introduce Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga's menu! It has quality meats including marinated king beef ribs, marinated pork-neck ribs, fresh Korean beef ribs, marinated beef rib meat, Korean beef skirt steak, and Korean beef yukhoe (seasoned raw beef), plus sides such as naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) and doenjang-jjigae (soybean-paste stew). There are set menus too, so it is a Magok-Balsan rib restaurant where groups can eat at reasonable prices. If you want to try a variety of things, consider a set menu〰️

Ordered marinated pork ribs and meal items

I went all in and ordered two portions of marinated pork ribs, one doenjang-jjigae, and a bowl of rice!

Neatly arranged side dishes for ribs
Salad and pickled side dishes

As soon as I ordered, they brought out delicious banchan (Korean side dishes)! I loved how carefully prepared and neatly presented each one was. There were vegetable salad, potato salad, white kimchi, shredded scallion salad, dressed lettuce, tangpyeongchae (mung-bean jelly salad), and pickles. If you need more sides, just request them on the tablet. I loved that they brought more over👍

It had been a while since I had charcoal-grilled marinated ribs, so I was incredibly excited👍 They grill everything for you, so all you have to do is eat—so nice👏

At Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga, the professional grilling service cooks everything beautifully! Before grilling, they marinated the ribs in organic pear juice. The marinated ribs are made with premium pork neck, they said! Their standouts are the refined flavor and tender texture.

The doenjang-jjigae I ordered on the side was truly savory and perfectly seasoned, so it went wonderfully with the marinated ribs. Marinated ribs plus doenjang-jjigae is just the classic combo‼️ Add naengmyeon too, and it would be such a perfect meal!

The pork ribs come in 300 g portions per person, and since it is 300 g without bones, the amount felt truly generous! I ordered two portions and honestly thought I might burst. Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga checks every box: flavor, quality, and portion size!

Generous 300 g portion of marinated pork ribs

The ribs were grilled with such care, and every staff member was kind, making it a restaurant that put me in a good mood. So, how did the ribs taste? Let me tell you in detail✨

Gentle pear sweetness and a tender texture

A gentle sweetness spreads through your mouth! I usually dislike marinated ribs because they are too sweet, but this was fruit sweetness from pear, not sugar, so the savoriness came through even more strongly. It was not overpowering. The texture was so tender it practically melted in my mouth, and these were ribs I could keep eating without getting tired of them!

Ribs served with pickles and shredded scallions

The marinade's sweetness was clean, and the charcoal aroma made it taste even better. It paired perfectly with the three kinds of pickles, shredded scallion salad, and vegetable salad, so I enjoyed it so, so much👏👏

Partway through, I also asked for ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), wasabi, and salt. Meat without wasabi just feels incomplete, right~~ Please try them together!

Ribs with wasabi and ssamjang

A place where you can taste marinated ribs at their very best! The ribs stay warm and juicy, crisp outside and moist within. Once I had them, they felt like the kind of ribs I would keep thinking about✨

For dessert, request it on the tablet and they give you pear sherbet! It is like ice cream with a deep pear flavor 🙌 I cannot believe they even serve a house-made dessert— I think Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga Magok-Balsan Branch is a Magok dining stop you absolutely need to visit!

Enjoying charcoal-grilled ribs in spacious seating

With its upscale interior and roomy seating, this was a place I enjoyed so much that I wanted to bring my family. The pork ribs were great quality, and next time I want to try the beef ribs too. The juicy, delicious marinated ribs kept me reaching for more, and the added charcoal aroma was truly superb. Since they grilled the meat themselves, I could focus only on eating, which was wonderful. Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga was perfect right through the pear sherbet dessert! I highly recommend it for a Balsan-Magok company dinner, family gathering, date, or get-together with friends👏👏 I think I will become a regular from now on👍👍 The friendly service made it an even happier restaurant❤️
