Jeju Korean restaurant with braised cutlassfish: Jongdal Sudatteul
In short
Jongdal Sudatteul is a Korean restaurant in Gujwa-eup, Jeju, serving a 13-dish Jeju set meal with braised and grilled cutlassfish. I switched the mackerel braise to cutlassfish for 4,000 won per person and ate two bowls of rice with the self-serve sides, haha. A hearty choice for cutlassfish and a generous Korean set meal.

Gujwa-eup cutlassfish set meal at Jongdal Sudatteul (종달수다뜰)

Jongdal Sudatteul, a great Jeju cutlassfish spot

There is parking right in front of the restaurant, so it is convenient to visit by car too 😊

Inside, the wood-tone tables were neatly arranged, and the wide spacing between seats made it comfortable to eat 😄

The signatures posted beside the counter caught my eye, haha.

High chairs are also available, so keep that in mind if you are visiting with children!!

Choosing the 13-dish Jeju set meal
There were so many baekban (home-style set meal) options that I could not decide what to have, so I chose the Jeju set meal, where you can enjoy a whole spread of Korean dishes 💕

Seeing the table filled to the brim, I thought choosing the Jeju set meal had been such a good call 😘

A whopping 13-dish table setting‼️ Grilled cutlassfish, dombe gogi (Jeju-style boiled pork), braised mackerel, seafood earthenware stew, marinated abalone, marinated crab, and wrap vegetables…!!

Jeju set meal: ₩25,000 From the mains to the side dishes, everything was laid out without a single gap—it looked absolutely amazing, haha.

Braised cutlassfish, grilled cutlassfish, and dombe gogi
Changing from braised mackerel to braised cutlassfish costs an extra ₩4,000 per person. Maybe because it was Jeju cutlassfish, the flesh was nice and thick,

and it was packed with roe too, which added an extra nutty flavor 😆

The slightly sweet seasoning was delicious too—such a rice thief, seriouslyㅠㅠ

The set meal also came with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) full of seafood. Its clean, savory flavor paired well with the other side dishes 🖤

The grilled cutlassfish was golden on the outside and moist inside,

with a clean, mild flavor quite different from the braise 😋

The dombe gogi, Jeju-style boiled pork, had a good balance of lean meat and fat, and it went so well dipped in salt 😝

Side dishes and the self-serve corner
What I loved so much about Jongdal Sudatteul was that the mains were delicious, but the side dishes were incredible too ❣️

Even with this many side dishes,

not one was too salty or bland—they were all exactly my taste 😝❤️

It was even better because I could comfortably help myself to these delicious side dishes at the self-serve corner 👍🏻

Thanks to all the side dishes, I ate two bowls of rice, haha hahaha.
