Hanam Korean restaurant for braised cuttlefish and pollock: Appa Jjim

I visited Appa Jjim Hanam Main Branch, famous in Hanam for its delicious dried pollock! Their braised pollock is seriously so good that once you try it, this is the place you’ll think of whenever you crave it :)

You can park conveniently right in front of the restaurant! It’s easy to visit even if you’re driving :) There’s also someone to help with parking, so you really don’t need to worry too much about it.

Braised pollock lunch special, available on weekends too

There were so many celebrity signatures, and they offer a braised pollock lunch special whether it’s a weekday or weekend. It comes with braised pollock and pot rice, and it’s such a great deal at ₩15,000! The portions are generous, it includes pot rice, and being able to have the lunch special on weekdays or weekends makes it feel really reasonable.

A spacious interior for pairs and larger groups

The interior was incredibly spacious! It was a place that could easily accommodate everyone from pairs to larger groups.

Neat side dishes came out. I also loved that there was cabbage salad, roasted seaweed, chilled seaweed soup, bean sprouts, garlic scapes, and seasoned seaweed stems—a nice variety! That chilled seaweed soup was sweet-and-tangy and sooo good.

Braised cuttlefish and pollock with extra fish roe and siraegi

Soon, the braised cuttlefish and dried pollock arrived. I added both siraegi (dried radish greens) and fish roe. It came with radish, rice cakes, and tofu too, so it was fun picking out what to eat! They have all the add-ons on the menu: extra tofu, radish, siraegi, and rice cakes! Add everything and eat it ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ The tofu was so well seasoned, and so was the radish—seriously delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!

A staff member cut everything up into easy-to-eat pieces, so you can just enjoy it comfortably :) 🙂

There was more myeongnanjeot fish roe than I expected, and I enjoyed it so much! 👍🏻👍🏻 I’d really been craving this kind of delicious steamed braise, and I found exactly the right place, so I was totally delighted. If someone asks me for a restaurant recommendation in Hanam, I’d recommend this place without hesitation.

Pot rice with scorched rice and seaweed wraps

The pot rice was delicious too, and one order serves two people. Pour hot water into the pot and finish with nurungji (scorched rice tea), and it’s absolute perfection >.<

I wrapped it in seaweed too. Putting dried pollock, bean sprouts, and siraegi into the roasted seaweed was so delicious ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ It had been such a long time since I’d eaten dried pollock, so I felt happy to enjoy it so much :) I really think eating something delicious is what makes me happiest.

Crispy seafood pancake like a cracker

I ordered the seafood pancake too, and this was seriously no joke ㅠㅠ The crispiness was insane. It was crunchy like a cracker, with squid, shrimp, and vegetables inside, and it was so crispy and tasty that even though I was full, I finished every last bit.

I absolutely love the rice cakes in dishes like this! 😆😆 The chewy rice cakes are simply the best 👍🏻 If you love add-ons or rice cakes like I do, I recommend ordering it this way and giving it a try >.<

I had a perfect meal right through to the end. If you’re looking for a really delicious top restaurant in Hanam, I recommend Appa Jjim Hanam Main Branch :) Anyone who visits is bound to love it. There were tons of customers, so waiting during peak hours is a must. Next time I crave dried pollock, I have to come back here~ ♥️ I ate so deliciously that I recommend it as a place for family gatherings too!
