A Seongsu pasta restaurant for dates: handmade gnocchi brunch at Brivite

Why I Visited Brivite Seongsu Near Seoulsup
Brivite Seongsu is a pasta restaurant in an alley in Seongsu, near Seoulsup, and it's a place I'd been curious about for a long time. These days when I go to Seongsu, I often eat a proper meal instead of just stopping at cafés. There are so many good restaurants that choosing where to go is half the fun, haha.

That day I was strolling slowly around Seoulsup, looking for a Seongsu pasta place with a nice mood, and ended up at Brivite, the one I'd wanted to try for ages.

What Is the Atmosphere Like at Brivite Seongsu?
Brivite Seongsu sits deeper in the alley, so it felt less crowded. When I opened the door, the colorful palette and stylish interior caught my eye first. It's not over the top, but comfortable, the kind of space where you naturally want to linger.
I think it would suit a meal with friends and also a date.
What We Ordered at Brivite Seongsu
We ordered the porcini shrimp gnocchi, the Kkangchong-kkangcho Rabbit Pasta and the spicy fried eggplant.
Porcini Shrimp Gnocchi: Handmade Potato Gnocchi, Savory Outside and Chewy Inside
Brivite Seongsu's porcini shrimp gnocchi is handmade potato gnocchi with porcini cream sauce and shrimp. It came out first and looked delicious just sitting there. I'd heard Brivite is famous for its handmade potato gnocchi, and after one bite I understood right away why so many people come.
The outside is lightly seared and savory, while the inside is chewy yet soft, so the texture was really good. It felt much springier than the gnocchi I usually eat, which made every bite satisfying. The cream sauce had a subtle porcini aroma and wasn't heavy, so it was easy to finish. The plump shrimp lifted the flavor even more.

Kkangchong-kkangcho Rabbit Pasta: A Spiciness You Keep Reaching For
The Kkangchong-kkangcho Rabbit Pasta is a Brivite Seongsu pasta where the spicy sauce soaks well into the noodles, and I'd been curious about it from the name alone. Each bite had a deep savory taste, and the heat wasn't harsh, just the kind that keeps you reaching for more, so it was perfect to alternate with the gnocchi.

The creamy softness and the spicy pasta balanced each other out, and I felt I'd chosen well.

Spicy Fried Eggplant: A Crispy-Outside, Juicy-Inside Side
The spicy fried eggplant I ordered as a side at Brivite Seongsu was better than I expected. Crispy outside and juicy inside, I think even people who don't like eggplant could enjoy it.

The spicy seasoning kept it from feeling greasy, so I kept reaching for it, and having it between bites of pasta cleared my palate each time. The combination was really good.

Gnocchi, Pasta and Fried Eggplant: How Did the Three Dishes Work Together?
What impressed me most about eating at Brivite Seongsu was how well each dish went with the others. The handmade gnocchi had a soft, savory charm, and the pasta changed the mood with a moderate kick of spice.

With the crispy fried eggplant added, I never got tired of it and enjoyed it right to the end.

Is Brivite Seongsu Good for Chatting and Lingering?
The tables at Brivite Seongsu are fairly spaced out, so it was easy to talk. The atmosphere helped too, and it's a nice place to eat slowly. On a day spent in Seongsu, I thought a relaxed brunch or dinner here would be lovely.

A Walk to Seoulsup After the Meal: A Seongsu Day Out
After eating at Brivite Seongsu, I walked slowly toward Seoulsup. Brivite is close to Seongsu's many other spots, so it works well as part of a day plan. The route from a meal to a café feels natural, so if you're planning a trip to Seongsu, I'd recommend stopping by.

Above all, you can taste the care Brivite puts into its handmade gnocchi. That chewy texture unique to homemade gnocchi stayed with me, and each dish had its own personality while the whole meal stayed well balanced. It was a satisfying lunch.
Overall Verdict
If you're looking for a Seongsu pasta restaurant with a nice mood, Brivite Seongsu is worth a visit at least once. It suits a day when you want a different kind of brunch, a relaxed date, or a good meal with a friend. I was happy with both the food and the atmosphere, and I'd like to go back to try the other signature dishes.
