Guro Chinese restaurant with private room seating: Junghwa Yori Hyeon
In short
Junghwa Yori Hyeon is a Chinese restaurant on basement level 1 of Ace Twin Tower 1, by the Guro Digital Complex 1-danji intersection in Guro, Seoul. The hall is mostly four-person tables plus a private room and a solo dining seat, so both team dinners and eating alone work here, and the writer ordered Hyeon jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) at 12,000 won, mini sweet and sour pork at 12,000 won, and fried dumplings at 5,000 won. The jjamppong came loaded with squid, webfoot octopus, shrimp, small octopus and smoky pork, and the pork was fried to order — good enough that the dinner course is next on the list.

As someone living alone, I eat out solo pretty often, so I really enjoy hunting down good restaurants not too far from home. I found one Chinese restaurant that's easy for solo dining and actually delicious, so I wanted to write up a review.
Where is Junghwa Yori Hyeon, and how do you get there from Guro Digital Complex Station?
Junghwa Yori Hyeon is a Chinese restaurant located in the basement of Ace Twin Tower 1, at the Guro Digital 1-danji intersection. It's a bit of a walk from Guro Digital Complex Station, so I took the bus, but it looked like it would be super accessible for office workers in the area.

Finding the entrance: following the sign down to basement level 1

Head down to the basement of Ace Twin Tower 1 and you'll see a big sign reading Junghwa Yori Hyeon. Follow the sign, go through the door, walk straight ahead, then turn left and you'll spot the restaurant right away. Interestingly, some of the storefronts on the same floor are still empty or being used as offices, so it's not very visible from outside — but it's already a popular Chinese restaurant among local office workers.
Inside Junghwa Yori Hyeon: private room, group tables and a solo dining seat

Inside Junghwa Yori Hyeon, there are lots of four-person tables set up. There's also a private room for more intimate meals, and there's exactly one solo dining spot — if you grab it fast, you can comfortably eat while facing the wall haha. This part was genuinely unusual. Using a leftover corner as a solo dining spot felt like a really clever idea.

Aprons and baby chairs are available, so it's a Chinese restaurant you can bring kids to without worry.

All ordering and payment is done through T Order.

What comes with the meal: the banchan and table setting

As soon as we ordered, they brought out water, pickled radish, onion, and black bean sauce.
How did the Hyeon jjamppong and mini sweet and sour pork taste?

First up was Junghwa Yori Hyeon's signature dish, Hyeon jjamppong. Unlike a typical jjamppong, it's loaded evenly with squid, baby octopus, shrimp, pork, whelk, and vegetables, making it an incredibly hearty bowl. It could easily lean too heavily into a seafood base, but the smoky, wok-charred pork gives it some real weight — a spicy jjamppong with substance. It's genuinely made with red pepper powder, so I'd really recommend it to anyone who likes old-school style jjamppong.
Next came the mini sweet and sour pork. I figured 'mini' meant just a taste, but there was a surprisingly big stack of pieces. Since it's fried right after ordering, there was no hardness or coldness at all. The meat was thick but not the least bit dry, which was surprising — pork loin can easily turn out dry, but this was as tender as tenderloin and paired well with the pleasantly tangy sauce. Definitely a must-order.

Next up, the fried dumplings. I always order fried dumplings wherever I go, because I really love dumplings — why are Chinese restaurant dumplings always so intensely delicious?
Final verdict on Junghwa Yori Hyeon, a Guro Chinese restaurant
This was my first visit to Junghwa Yori Hyeon, but quite a few people were enjoying the dinner course menu. I definitely want to come back and try the dinner course next time. Thanks for the meal!
One last note from the visit
You could really tell the staff are close with each other. Kitchens can be dangerous places with a strict hierarchy, so the mood can get a bit intense, but they were chatting away so cheerfully that it played out like a radio in the background — made the meal fun and not boring at all!
