Guro Digital Complex Chinese lunch: sweet and sour pork set: Junghwa

Hey everyone haha, lately I've been aging a day older every time I try to figure out what to eat for lunch,,,

After circling around near the office forever, I always end up drawn back to a Chinese restaurant. When you want something spicy and filling, it's just the answer.

So today I want to introduce a Chinese restaurant near Guro Digital Complex Station that I visited! I went in on a whim during lunch when I was suddenly craving Chinese food, and it turned out to be a total win 🥢

Interior and seating

The interior was pretty spacious, so it looked like it could handle groups too!

There were also room-style seats, great for a lunch meal too

They had danmuji (pickled radish), red pepper flakes, vinegar, and soy sauce all set up!

For the spice lovers out there: bulljajang

I'd heard the bulljajang (spicy black bean noodles) here is really spicy, so I ordered it a bit nervously,,, and it really was!!

Even people who can handle spicy food would reach for water after one bite, that's how fiery it was.

But it wasn't just spicy — the signature savory jjajang flavor was still there, so I'd highly recommend it to anyone who's a spice fan. Perfect for the days you want that spicy kick 🔥

It's ganjjajang, and not many places top it with a fried egg these days! But they did here!

Honestly, I doubted my eyes when I saw the price tag,,, sweet and sour pork plus meals in a set for two, all for ₩23,000, seriously

Ordered right away! We got the set with sweet and sour pork, ganjjajang, and udon!

With prices these days, isn't this basically the definition of a great deal

The sweet and sour pork had a batter that was crispy without being too thick, and the meat pieces were nice and chunky, not thin, so there was a satisfying chew.

The sauce had just the right sweet-and-sour balance, so it was great even dunked generously haha

Guro's Chinese food signature: seafood-packed samseon udon

Today's best discovery was this one, samseon udon (three-treasure seafood udon).

The moment I took a sip of the broth I went 'huh?' — the seafood in there was seriously generous

Shrimp, squid, and octopus were loaded in without being stingy about it, so it was fun fishing out the pieces. The squid was chewy and the octopus was cooked tender, so the contrast in texture was fun, and the broth had a deep, refreshing flavor thanks to the seafood base. The portion was huge too — enough to fill up even splitting it between two people.

The shrimp were plump and hearty too, right? I really left stuffed!

Who to recommend it to: office workers wanting to fill up quickly during a short lunch break, spice lovers, and anyone craving udon loaded with seafood. If you're looking for a good lunch spot for Guro Digital Complex office workers, this is worth adding to the list.

Would I go back: absolutely haha. Next time I want to try the ganjjajang again, and I'd love to bring someone who can handle spice to see their reaction to the bulljajang.

Practical tip: it can get crowded during lunch hour, so going a bit earlier is recommended! Portions are really generous, so if you want to eat lightly, splitting a dish between two rather than ordering one each is also an option 🫶🏻
