How long does it take from Hoegi Station, and is parking available?

While on a date near Kyung Hee University, the two of us stopped by 1986 Shibuya Burger (1986시부야버거). We walked through the quiet neighborhood from Hoegi Station and arrived in under 10 minutes. The address is 서울 동대문구 경희대로1가길 5 1층, and the original listing says it is 668 m from Exit 1 of Hoegi Station.

There was a waiting area at the entrance. On-site parking was unavailable, and the guidance was to use a nearby public or private parking lot. According to the original listing, hours are 11:00–21:00, with last orders at 20:30.

What is the seating like for solo diners or groups?

The interior had a Japanese-inspired look, with soft Japanese music playing. The dining area felt spacious enough for groups, and there was information saying reservations could be made in advance.

There were also bar seats well suited to eating alone. My food came out quickly during this visit, so I thought it would also work for a short lunch or dinner.

What is on the menu, and how do you order?

I ordered through the kiosk. There were many choices, including skillet cheese burgers, Golden Hash Burgers, Jambon Wagyu Burgers, and Chipotle Jambon Burgers, so it took me a little time to decide.

There were sides such as salads and cheese bars. The burger selection ranged from bold to refreshing flavors, and toppings could be chosen to suit your preference.

At the time of my visit, Toss Pay and Toss Face Pay were available. There were also notices for a Naver review event offering capsule coffee and a follow event.

What does the self-service bar have besides free potato chips?

The self-service bar had items for before and after the meal as well as food. Fabric deodorizer was provided to freshen up clothes that had picked up odors.

There were refresh kits with wet wipes, stick mouthwash, and dental floss, along with candy, vitamins, and barley tea.

Hair ties were also available to take freely. I thought they would be useful if you wanted to tie up your hair for a meal but had not brought one.

There were six sauces: ketchup, garlic mayo, triple mayo, honey mayo, sweet chili, and White S. Potato chips were free, and you could also take pickles and jalapeños to suit your taste.

Sauces and accompaniments at Shibuya Burger's self-service bar

I took only as much potato chips and sauce as I could eat. The burgers came out while I was looking around the self-service bar, and the separate men's and women's restrooms were clean.

Adding jalapeños one at a time while eating the burgers gave them a nice spiciness. Since I had ordered fries separately, I only sampled a little of the free potato chips, but they went well with the various sauces.

How did the three burgers I tried taste, and what did they cost?

The Shibuya Classic Burger was ₩6,700. It had a mild flavor with cheese, and it felt like a burger that stayed true to the basics.

How much extra does it cost to switch to Chili Cheese Fries?

I upgraded the set side to Chili Cheese Fries for an additional ₩2,900. It came with generous cheese sauce and chili sauce that tasted a little like tomato sauce, so I did not run short of sauce while eating.

Was the Chipotle Jambon Burger strongly flavored?

The Chipotle Jambon Burger was ₩9,900. It had plenty of chipotle sauce with jambon, and its slightly bold flavor whetted my appetite.

How filling is it when you add sides?

With burgers and sides filling the table for two, it was more filling than I had expected for a simple meal. The ingredients felt fresh, and the thick beef patties came together well with the sauces and toppings.

I also had the ₩3,000 cheese bar. It was fun to see the cheese stretch out. Each burger differed in its mildness and sauce intensity, so it was possible to choose according to preference, and the free potato chips and self-service bar rounded out the meal.
