In short
Gatjidong Noeun Branch is a Western-style pork cutlet and buckwheat soba restaurant near Noeun Station in Yuseong, Daejeon. A couple spending the day in Daejeon ordered the signature half-and-half pork cutlet and the buckwheat soba plus pork cutlet set with extra soba noodles, and the soup, rice and dipping broth all came with unlimited refills. Today I went to Gatjidong Noeun Branch, a well-known spot in Yuseong, Daejeon 😊 My husband and I had been wandering all over Daejeon and were starving by the time dinner rolled around 🤣 We decided on a reliable pork cutlet for dinner in the Yuseong area. Picking what to eat when traveling is always the hardest part haha.

Where do you park at Gatjidong Noeun Branch?
Gatjidong Noeun Branch does have its own parking lot, but the spaces are a bit tight, so roadside parking near the shop was actually more convenient for us. Keep in mind spots may be full during lunch and dinner peak hours though.

They were also running a Naver photo review receipt draw! No losing tickets — first prize is a meal voucher for four, and even fifth place gets snacks!! If you don't want the prize you draw, you can apparently swap it for one of the lower-tier options.

What we ordered and the unlimited refill self-serve bar
We ordered the signature half-and-half pork cutlet and the buckwheat soba + pork cutlet set with extra soba noodles added. Gatjidong has such a varied menu that you can order exactly what you're in the mood for. Soup, rice, and broth are all unlimited refills at Gatjidong Noeun Branch in Daejeon. Pickled radish and kimchi are self-serve too, of course. The rice that comes with the pork cutlet is a decent portion already, but you can always refill if you need more.

Is Gatjidong Noeun Branch good with kids?
There were bibs and a baby chair, plus a baby bib too. It seems like a really good place to come with kids. The restroom is inside the building — you exit the shop and go further in to find it.

Gatjidong Noeun Branch in Daejeon has kids' service if you come with children. They gave us kids' rice furikake, kids' vitamins, and even baby tableware. As a parent myself, I could really feel how considerate and thoughtful the owner was 🥹 On top of that, if you come with an elderly family member, they give out yeonyanggaeng (sweet jelly bar) as a service too!!

Early evening atmosphere and how long you wait
We visited in the early evening, and there were quite a few people inside already, plus delivery orders kept coming in. Still, the food came out faster than I expected. It looked like there could be a bit of a wait during peak hours. Naver Reservation is available, so I'd recommend booking ahead if you're going during weekend or holiday peak times. Overall the restaurant was clean, with families bringing babies as well as plenty of solo diners. There were especially a lot of students. I guess the good value for money makes it popular.

How is the signature half-and-half pork cutlet?
This is a Western-style (gyeongyangsik) pork cutlet, and the flavor brought back memories of old-school pork cutlets. It went especially well with the soba, and I remember the sauce being really good. My husband's a salad person when it comes to pork cutlet sides, and I'm a total kimchi person haha. But here, the salad was one I kept reaching for. The cheese pork cutlet is loaded with cheese, so it's savory and soft — kids would especially love it.

How much soba do you get when you add extra noodles?
The soba pork cutlet set is insanely good value..!! Honestly I had no idea the noodle add-on would be this much haha. I told my husband to just try a bit, and he ended up eating two servings' worth of soba.. plus a whole pork cutlet on top of that!

Personally I prefer soba without seaweed flakes on top, and Gatjidong loaded it up with green onion instead, which was very very good 👍👍 I'm not a fan of wasabi personally, so I passed on that!!

Is Gatjidong Noeun Branch worth a visit?
Gatjidong Noeun Branch in Daejeon has a great location, so it was very easy to get to, and I'd highly recommend it for a good-value meal with family or friends!! There's a wide range of menu items that suit different tastes, and I think kids especially would love it. I'll have to come back next time to try the new menu items!!

That was my honest review of dinner at Gatjidong Noeun Branch in Daejeon. Wishing you another no-fail meal today too 😆
